medicbrian Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Forgive me if I missed something in previous posts. I'm attempting to create a nice use for water and steam to power some engines and I came across a thermal craft youtube video that explained the use of boilers and steam tanks for holding. Are these not included in tekkit? I cannot locate them. If there from another mod pack that's ok, I'll just scrap the idea. Thanks for the help.
theprolo Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 No, they're not included in Tekkit. You can use the Thermal Expansion Steam Engines though, just fill them up with water and fuel them (I think).
medicbrian Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 With those be the actual steam engines, or the new stirling ones? I wasn't aware I could power them with just water, sorry I'm new to TE. So you could you could use an infinite power source with aqueious(sp?) pump to perma-fuel the engines? I thought water was used to just cool them.
theprolo Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Actual steam engines. They do need fuel to power them AFAIK, coal and stuff.
Lethosos Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Well, if we look at the real-world mechanics of steam, it's basically a pressure exchange system. Steam fills a piston chamber, which pushes an attached arm to the piston, which in turn creates motion or "work". Then that pressure exits a valve, the piston returns to its previous position, and it starts all over again.
