Technic Launcher reported as a Trojan - False positive?

Description of Problem:

I downloaded the Technic Launcher from technicpack.net and shortly after scanned my computer as part of routine checks.

It then displayed the launcher as Trojan.Agent.VGENX, so I got rid immediately. It was scanned on an outdated late 2012 version of malwarebytes and I was wondering if this was a known false-positive, or in fact a true trojan.

There is 30,000+ people from facebook who put a "like" on Technic, 130,000+ members on this forum and lastly a imaginary(?) number of 100,000+ to perhaps a million people downloading the launcher from day one.

You really believe that ANYONE wouldn't notice a virus on the launcher?
