I can't download new Modpacks via the launcher!

Operating System: Windows 8

Java Version: 7 Update 25

Antivirus Program: Windows Defender

Description of Problem:

I downloaded Hexxit, and I played, but then I wanted to try out Tekkit, so I tryed launching it through the launcher, but then an error came up saying "Error receiving information for selected pack: Tekkit/tekkitmain". Now, whenever I try to launch a pack besides Hexxit, it won't download the required mods and won't let launch my selected modpack!

Error Messages:

Error receiving required information for selected pack: Vanilla

I am having the exact same problem with all my Modpacks, i tryed everything to try to get rid of it, remove and re-install java, reinstall technic launcher, everything. I dont know what to do

Try deleting the Technic folder and increasing ram and permgen size.

Server side problem. Only know that because if you go to the link in IE it says the site is down.

Guys, I found out how to (kind of) fix it. Increase RAM, and when you're clicking to download the pack, just keep on clicking launch, around 5-10 trys, it should start the download.

Update. You don't need to touch ram. just keep trying it. if it says error downloading "tekkitlite" for instance instead of "Tekkit lite" Then close the launcher, and reopen it.
