jag989 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I've been having trouble with an energy bridge not outputting as much MJ as I would expect. My setup is below: MFSU -> EV Consumer -> Bridge -> MJ Producer No matter how much power is stored in the MFSU or pumped directly in to the EV consumer, no more 141 EU is consumed and 58 MJ is ever produced. The MJ output is being transported via phased pipes to 6 quarries. Am I doing something wrong or is this the correct behavior? Thanks!
TruePikachu Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 What EV consumer? There are four tiers (one of which is unable to be manufactured, I believe). Generally, additionally, you shouldn't use phased pipes, but rather energy tesserects. This is just to save power, though. EDIT: Also, what is the charge level in the bridge (approx.) and the amount of charge in the MFSU? EDIT2: Wait, EU or EU/t? Same for MJ or MJ/t
jag989 Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 I'm using the IC2 EV (extreme voltage) consumer. So far it hasn't been necessary due to the output limitation, though. Both the MFSU and bridge have been remaining fully charged. Also, the numbers I listed above were EU/t and MJ/t. I'll also try with a Tesseract but I'm reading that those do have a hard limit of 100 MJ input each - is there a similar limit for the phased pipe?
Vivacity Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Tesseracts have a 25% power loss. Otherwise I know of no limitations.
TruePikachu Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I don't think the tesserects have a hard limit [citation needed], nor have I heard of the 25% power loss. I was actually stating not to use phased pipes because of how energy links behave when connected to power pipes, which is very wasteful. The EV consumer I don't think is manufacturable. It would require an EV transformer in its construction, which doesn't exist. The ideal choice when taking from a MFSU is an HV transformer. Craft/cheat up an EU reader, and use it on the EV consumer, wait some 10 seconds, and use it again. Report back with the consumption rate. Are you sure you are using more than 58MJ on the other end of the pipe? Ironically, even though quarries can take up to 32 MJ/t, 9MJ/t is enough for continuous operation, and 58MJ split across 6 quarries is 9+2/3 MJ/t for each.
Vivacity Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Read the Wiki on the actual site for Thermal Expansion. It says there's a 25% power loss.
TruePikachu Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I see, balance reasons. Let me check my unmodified config, to see if Tekkit Lite changes that I:transport.teleport.energy.loss=25 I:transport.teleport.energy.maxTransfer=100 These two lines seem to clear some things up.
Vivacity Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Try setting it to 0 ,that'll either cause transfer to be unlimited or block it.
jag989 Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 I:transport.teleport.energy.loss=25 I:transport.teleport.energy.maxTransfer=100 Thanks for the ideas so far guys. I'm not able to check the config files at the moment, but those lines are for the phased pipes, correct? I'll also have to check again with an EU reader, but I've been reading the input on the consumer and it does match the ~140 EU. Also, it is actually possible to craft an IC2 EV consumer (it uses an MFSU in place of a transformer), but as you noted, it isn't serving much of a purpose here. Are you sure you are using more than 58MJ on the other end of the pipe? Ironically, even though quarries can take up to 32 MJ/t, 9MJ/t is enough for continuous operation, and 58MJ split across 6 quarries is 9+2/3 MJ/t for each. This is a good point, but the bridge seems to output 58 MJ/T producer no matter how many quarrys are on the other end. I also added a second MJ producer on the same energy bridge (linked to the same phased pipe) and that did output another 58 MJ/T for 116 total. If I can keep adding more MJ producers it isn't going to be a problem, but it just seems really weird.
