Running out of memory

I continually receive the Minecraft is running out of memory message after about 10 minutes of gameplay and I was wondering if anyone had any solutions for this.

not without more information, we don't. allocating more memory may actually make it worse depending on your system.

is your OS 32 or 64 bit?

how much ram do you have total?

how much are you allocating right now to minecraft?

Actually, I was having trouble figuring out how to allocate more memory, 32 bit, I think 4 gigs

you can't allocate more than 1.5gigs to a program in a 32bit environment. if you're trying for more, you'll have problems. you can select the amount of memory to use in the options menu on the launcher.

since you didn't specify what exactly was 4gigs I'm going to assume that's your max available and not what you're allocating right now.
