No Shortcut On Desktop

I just downloaded the new technic launcher(beta) and yesterday was my first time using it. It works fine, but to open it again, the only thing that I have found is to re-download it. I tried saving it to my desktop, but that didn't work. I'm running windows 7 and I have all the basic programs(java, adobe, etc..). My java is 64 bit. If any one can help me that would be greatly appreciated. (if this is a duplicate post, please tell me and will take it down)

EDIT: I found out that if you save to desktop under a new name, it will make the shortcut.

(I'm leaving the post up incase others run into this issue.)

...It's not an installer. The file you download is the launcher itself.
