(1.5.1) Why can't I connect to 1.3 and how do I do it?

So I want to play on a tekkit server, but it doesn't allow me too since I have a 1.5 version and most servers have 1.3. How can I fix this?

Tekkit classic is on Minecraft 1.2.5. (Shows up as 1.3 because of technical updatey stuffs)

Tekkit is on Minecraft 1.5.2.

Choose wisely based on the server you want.
