Can't create/place Nether Portal.

Title: Can't create/place Nether Portal.

Description of Problem:

Basically, I can't create a Nether Portal, when I make one and light it on fire/place some lava on it, nothing happens.

However, I can spawn in some nether portal and place it, but when the portal touches other nether portal I placed it just disappears.

All I did with my Hexxit is installed Optifine.

[Edit: The tool normally used to light it is flint & steel. Requires 1 flint & 1 iron.]

[Edit: Are you in Adventure Mode? The Minecraft wiki says Flint & Steel won't ignite a Nether portal in Adventure Mode.]

You may not have the nether allowed on your server.properties file, right click it, open it in notepad or as a txt document and if (I believe its) allow-nether: is false, set it to true. not sure if that's the problem, but hope this helps

O my god, am I that big of a noob. I made my nether portal 5 (3) wide. *facepalm*
