update failed

hi i am having problems using the technic launcher, when it opens but displays the message "oh noes! our tumblr feed is down!" and the mod packs say "failed to update" i run windows 7 64bit with java version 7 and the anti virus i use is AVG. is this a problem due to me not downloading the right thing or interference from AVG or do i simply need to wait for a new update/fix?

So, is AVG also preventing you from reading? I know it can do that sometimes, you might want to try uninstalling it before reading the stickies.

Oh yeah, and bug report format, goddammit.

Yes it is.

Uninstall AVG. actually uninstall it, not just disable it. Get either Avast! or microsoft security essentials in its place.

Ok i uninstalled avg and restarted my pc but i still get the same problem

Then try also deleting and redownloading the launcher.

i deleted and re-installed and the same problem is still there

Alright, try running the .jar, and if that doesn't work, try reinstalling java.

i've now re-installed java and i still get the same message, do i require i specific version of minecraft?

Last possibility before i have to give up:

Completely delete your .techniclauncher folder. It's in /appdata
