URGENT!!!![All versions/modpacks] buttons not working in launcher NOT PLAY BUTTON ISSUE!

Hi,

I have recently purchased the new HP Split x2 and i have encountered a large problem as fully described below. When i get to the Minecraft home screen/title page and click either single player or multiplayer none of the buttons work beyond this point. Exact steps taken listed below:

1. I launch Minecraft from my desktop and the launcher opens.

2. I press the play button (I am in online mode and already logged in to my account).

3.Then when the client opens i click on single player/multiplayer

4. Then i am unable to press any buttons in the launcher past this point e.g. create new world or cancel. Please note that the cleint has not crashed/frozen at this point as it seems to still pick up that my cursor is hovering over the buttons as they still have the blue tint.

I have tried re-installing different versions of Minecraft and java numerous amounts of times!

you're running 1.6.2, which means you aren't using any of the technic packs. in fact, it seems like you're loading up vanilla. go talk to mojang about their shit being broken on windows 8. can't say that I'm surprised though.

I am aware of this altough this part of the forum is described as "[General Minecraft discussion] - Vanilla MC or nonspecific to pack news and discussion." The same problem applys to all modpacks and minecraft versions. I just really badly need help as i havent been able to solve this for like two weeks and i have tried lots of other forums this was kinda a last resort.
