Placing Objects

I just changed my server over to Tekkit from Vanilla, as a precaution I used a fresh map, I can pull objects up in the creative menu but whenever I try to place them they dissapear, and my inventory wipes when I try to go back to survival.

you may want to re-install the server side files. sounds like you may be running the minecraft.jar rather than the tekkit .jar, alternatively try to launch it from the bat file if you can.
