Help with the launcher

Hi, I am having trouble with my launcher. I go to open it and connect to tekkit lite, but for some reason, it's telling me that it can't connect to minecraft.net and asks if I want to go online instead. When it gives me that message, keep in mind that I am connected to a wifi source with active internet access. Please help!

Mojang Support Centre. Always check that site first, since the launcher needs to connect through mojangs login server to authenticate your account.
