That's not a launcher-related problem. If you or your bro went past the Mojang logo then the launcher did its job.

Look at which modpack your brother is using (Hexxit, Technic, Tekkit Lite etc...) and post a bug report there.

If your brother is using a custom made modpack (one not made by the Technic team) then ask advice from the modpack maker.

I would suggest looking through the Common problems-sticky threads, they might help.
