Maybe, add a Mining Dimension?

Aroma1997 Dimension Mod adds a Mining Dimension that would be good for single-player, especially server play. It's too alleviate stripping the world and having huge chunks and holes in the overworld. And with Big Dig being about "MOAR ore", it seems like a perfect fit.

Has anyone done this on their own and successfully added it?

Personally I prefer Mystcraft (which is already in the pack), yes it's a bit more complicated and longer game, but is much more customisable.

I use it a lot and find it handy when you want to do a lot of quarrys at the same time and don't want to lag down your computer with to many animations. I did a 10 quarry setup and I'm still sorting through the chests that I have going. Of course I have a 140 mods to work from and changed a couple of config files to enhance the outcome.
