Title: Tekkit Launcher Won't Launch Tekkit Classic

Version: 3.1.2

OS: Windows 7 PC

Java Version: Java 32 bit

Description of Problem:

The Tekkit launcher takes up to five minutes to load. When it does load I try to launch Tekkit Classic. For a moment it loads files, but before exiting the launcher menu it stops, quickly closes and re-opens the launcher and stops there, nothing else happens. It's says Java has low memory but I don't know how to fix that as I was playing tekkit the night prior to this problem and it worked fine.

This is not a modpack problem, it's a Launcher problem.

There is a cog button on the top right corner, right next to the red exit button, click on it.

You will now see how much memory you have allocated to the modpack.

How much RAM do you have on your PC? And do you have 32 or 64 OS?

If you have 64 you can push the memory to 2GB.

If you have 32 your limit is 1GB.

I've tried clicking that several times, and raised the limit to 1.5 GB (that's the highest option). It still does the same thing that I posted earlier. Will deleting worlds on my old unmodded Minecraft free up storage on Java?

Unless you mean that your java is your harddrive.

This is a harddrive, in case your confused. Java is a language

Ok, thank you for replying. I also installed the tekkit launcher on my laptop, witch currently has no virus protection, and that works fine. Could the AVG protection on my main PC be stopping Tekkit Classic from loading?

oh you have AVG? you didn't mention that. Uninstall it!

Avast is free and much nicer to the launcher, use that instead. Or Microsoft Security Essentials

I have the same issue.. got 2gb assigned.. running 64 bit java 8 .. have always used avast.. have deleted and reinstalled technic launcher and all mod packs associated with it.. wont play pixelmon or bteam.

 

I would include a dump of the launcher console but I cant paste it here...

java is the problem. java 8 does not work well with forge for 1.6.4. im not sure about any of the new forges. but just go and uninstall java 8 and install java 7. thats what i did, anyways. you can thank ATLauncher for telling me that java8 wouldnt work with the old forge.
