mods don't work

using minecraft 1.7.2

when i open the tekkit launcher it asks for my account and when i enter my info the launcher continues to the main screen where i select the newest tekkit and then instead of launch it has the button that says play when i click that it procedes to show a download bar that runs a bunch of zip files and jar files then it finishes and when i go to play minecraft none of the mods work. i was just wondering why i don't have a launch button.

The play button is the launch button.

Also note that there are no modpacks available for 1.7.2. Namely because there are very few, if any, mods available for 1.7.2. The latest version that is used in any pack is 1.6.4, and the latest version any official Technic pack runs is 1.5.2.

so do i have to get the earlier version of minecraft to use tekkit

No, Tekkit is installed independent of your Minecraft installation.

Tekkit should automatically open when you hit the "Play" button (i.e. it does the download thing you mentioned, then installs it all if it hasn't done so already and opens it in a new window from the launcher).

i would mainly like the mps mod along with galaticraft and the balkonswepons mod

do u mean the play button for the minecraft launcher

or the one in the tekkit launcher

The one in the Technic Launcher. Also, you really should use that edit button instead of triple posting.

so will the technic launcher open my minecraft with the mods installed automatically of do i manualy open it and chose the mods i want

The Technic Launcher will automatically install Minecraft and the mods into its independent directory and open a session of Minecraft. When you click play, it should close the launcher window, open a new window titled "Tekkit", and run Minecraft within that window. No further intervention should be required after you click play for Minecraft to open.

i have the newest launcher and it does not open the technic window at all.

i have tried re-dowloading tekkit launcher many times i was wondering why it will not open the window

If the game window does not open after clicking the play button, then you probably are dealing with a bug. Try following the instructions in this thread, and if that fails, file a bug report in the section that thread is in.
