Title: codechickencore error

OS: Windows Home Premium

Java Version: Version 7, Update 45

Description of Problem:

When I try to open Tekkit, it loads up fine and gets onto the Mojang screen, but I then get confronted with a message saying that there is a problem with my Minecraft installation and my codechickencore is out of date. Apparently the minimum version of codechickencore I need is 1.8.7, even though I have 1.8.7. What is going on!?

Please provide the full error log. If its that big, use a service like pastebin for it

The only two things I can see weird is that OpenAL is missing, and that your running 32 bit java. The startup in that log finds, and uses codechicken just fine.

sooooo what do OpenAL and 32-bit Java have to do with CCC?

Well 32 bit is known to cause all sorts and hosts of problems, none of which we have really been able to 100% pin down, And OpenAL is something that Codechicken tries to access repeatedly. Google for openAL downloads, and let me know how much ram your computer has.

My computer has 495MB of RAM and what version of OpenAL will i need?

Im sorry 458mb? That is woefully inadequate to run any modded version. Im surprised that could even run Windows. Do you want to double check that your machine only has half a gig? I wouldn't be surprised with code chicken throwing errors due to the low ram.

where do i find out for sure then? my laptop has enough RAM to play on a busy server at 15-20 fps and minecraft has never given me the out-of-memory error

Tekkit (newer) was always working perfectly until they removed the coremods folder

Actually my computer has 3GB of RAM and i suppose i use whatever version of AL is needed for the MC version Tekkit is running on?

AL Isn't a minecraft mod, but the latest version of OpenAL will be sufficient.

Regardless, 32bit minecraft is unfortunately known to simply die and give up for no apparent reason, we've never nailed down exactly what it is that the 32bit system doesn't like.

Just out of interest, what exactly is OpenAL? Is it game script/client changer or something similar?

OpenAL is a open source Audio Library. Its more akin to say, a graphics driver than a client changer.
