Description of Problem:

Whenever I click 'Play Now' on a pack e.g. Hexxit, it goes through some loading and eventually gets stuck on 0% for 'Processing Version'.

How do I fix this?

Could you please check whatever constitutes a "Control Panel" and "Uninstall Programs" on your Mac and see if you have a Relevant knowledge installed?

I'm afraid there's no "Uninstall Programs" equivalent. I can only manually erase programs from my Mac. What was the initial goal?

There is a malware known to the minecraft community that prevents players from playing MC. This malware can be found on the list of your installed programs as "Relevant Knowledge".

It is just a hunch I have, hoping to find the source of this problem. There are a few others who have the same problem as you have

Caused by: java.net.ConnectException: Operation timed out

This is Java saying " I waited for the Technic bus (server) to arrive. I waited and waited and waited but it did not come so I went home crying..."

The launcher tried to connect but didn't get any response after several tries, the timed out is one way of saying " I'm giving up!".

If you have no antivirus installed and no firewall blocking the technic launcher then I haven't got any solution to this, sadly...

Hi Christophar, I found a solution to the timed out error. It's a java error.

Get your command window up and copy this line

setx _JAVA_OPTIONS -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

If your mac doesn't have a command prompter, well then we have to do this more complicated:

1. Click start
   
2. Right click on Computer and choose properties
   
3. In the left column, click Advanced system settings
   
4. Choose the Advanced tab
   
5. Click the Environment Variables button
   
6. Under System variables, click New
   
7. Set Variable name to _JAVA_OPTIONS
   
8. Set Variable value to -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
   
9. Close all windows you've opened
   

Your mac may differ from windows concerning the name of buttons and tabs. I hope this helps

I have the same problem on a mac too. Unfortunately this solution will only work on windows. Do you have any idea how to fix this on mac. I have tried and there is a equivalent to the command prompter and I used the command but it did not work. I don't know if its a problem with my computer or mac. If you could please tell me if there is any other way. I've tried the second way and I couldn't figure out how to get to the environment variables.

And no, as I already stated, I don't know anything about Mac's. Please make your own bug report, I've found way too many users saying "I have the same problem too" but many of them don't even have the same error message.

I figured it out. My problem was that the webproxyd was stopping it from launching. Try turing off parental controls complete. Then restart.
