Help with getting to know Tekkit

Hi i just recently started playing tekkit. i played allot of tekkit classic and i'm having some serious growing pains. My main problem right now is how to get diamonds. in classic i would just make a divining rod and go from there later on using Transmutation tablet. I'm just asking for alternate ways to get goods like diamonds other then good old fashioned mine-craft mining. Any help would be appreciated including other cool tips to get me started i really have no clue what these other mods are capable of

I think most people mine enough diamonds for a turtle, then they have their turtle tunnel at diamond level while mining with it or just chunk loading. From there I think people wait until they have enough diamonds for a quarry set up. You could just mine until you have enough for a quarry I suppose.

Best way is to get a powerplant that can produce atleast 200Mj/tic more then you need and use that to power a Laser Drill. Laser Drill basicly convert power to ores.
