Everytime I try to load up a modpack or update one, I get an error.

Question

Launcher Version: 393

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium

Java Version: Version 7 Update 51 (build 1.7.0_51-b13)

Antivirus Program: Kaspersky Internet Security 2014

Description of Problem:

The title covers everything, all modpacks/updates won't run through the launcher. I've already tried reinstalling it, and I will figure out how to disable Kaspersky and try that out later.

Error Messages:

Error downloading file for the following pack: Big Dig

The error log is saying nothing. And it is definitly Kaspersky's fault, disabling it should fix the problem

I've tried disabling the firewall, and also the "self-defense" programming on Kaspersky, and I changed the Launcher's rights to "trusted" but the issue persists. Every time I try to download something, I get to the portion on the progress bar where it says "Installing Minecraft", which processes fine, but then it goes to "hit3.ogg" which automatically throws an error.

Here's the new log from Tekkit Classic

That error log tells me nothing. Uninstall Kaspersky then, there are better AV's like Avast! or MSE which wont give any problems to the launcher.

Ok the AV was indeed the cause of the issue, I uninstalled it and the launcher works fine. I will now reinstall it and try to find a workaround. If I can I will send a message to Kaspersky trying to solve this issue, so other people won't have to deal with the same problem.

I'm not a technical wiz, but I heard that Mojang migrated their authentication server. Since Technic is a third-party software who tries to connect to something that Kaspersky deems unknown might be the cause Kaspersky is being silly and blocks it.

There was on friday when the new modpack launched. Shouldn't be right now, I just played. If the issue persists post the error log in here

HandshakeException? What the fuck? Never seen this kind of error before...

Did you reinstall Kaspersky? Or some other antivirus?

Disable kaspersky. If the launcher still doesn't work, uninstall Kaspersky. Get something else like Avast! or MSE.

That would be $60 dollars down the drain -_- I've seriously never had this problem with the AV before.

Launcher should be fixed by simply disabling the AV, other users has reported so. But if it seriously wont let the launcher connect to minecraft authentication server....

You could try contacting Kaspersky support.

WHAT THE FUCK KASPERSKY,,,,,sigh. Yep, it worked. I already tried contacting them, it's Just a matter of time, and I really don't want to have to deal with just 1 free AV alone on my baby. Anyways, that's not your problem, thanks for helping me and dealing with my stupid AV concerns. Would "recommend" or "write a review," if I knew where to find something like that. Anyways, thanks.
