Loose everythign when I die?

Every time I die nothing I was carrying is there when I return.  Last time my spawn was ~20 blocks away from my death point so I know its not despawning due to a time limit.  Is this a bug or part of the mod?

Your items should be going into a "gravestone" at or near your death. Try checking vertically.

Ahhhhhh  thank you so much.  This makes a lot more sense now
