Other options to repair?

Was wondering whast the best way to repair items? i know i can use the anvil and use the resource used to make the item to repair it. With a diamond pickaxe im going to need a diamond and some levels to repair it. But is there another way to repair items?

there is an auto anvil from minefactory reloaded, would that help? id on my server is 708:2 but if you search nei for anvil, you will find it
