Adding Server list to mod pack

Is there a way to have a server list within a modpack?  I swear I have seen some with them already added, but I must be missing something.  When I try because it just wipes all servers on the client.  Any help would be appreciated.

Launch minecraft, add a server, close minecraft, take the servers.dat from minecraft and put it into your pack, done
