Launcher/pack Version: Launcher EXE (1.0.1.2)

Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

Version of Java: Java 7.0.4 64-bit

Description of Problem: When I start the technic launcher, it starts a popup window to check the version, which immediately closes. I'm running Avira Antivirus and Malwarebytes.

Error Messages: NA

Link to pastebin of log: NA, I haven't got the program to run long enough to make the folder for one.

I know there are similar issues, but I'm running a different anti-virus, and possibly a different Java.

I tried replacing the .jar file the launcher downloaded with the one from the technic main page. It gave me an error that simply said "error". Not sure if this was your suggestion.

Avira was blocking it for a while. Recently it was removed from the list due to user reports saying it was ok. I don't know much about Avira but you may have to go to the site and get something or other. Until then try turning off your antivirus and giving it another go.

Okay, I tried disabling Avira and Malwarebytes, but it doesn't seem to work. And Avira's site doesn't seem to have anything related to technic anything when I search. Does it matter where technic pack is in relation to the Minecraft executable?

I really don't think they would mention Technic by name no. It was most likely just included into their libraries or whatever.

But you've said something confusing here that you'll have to elaborate on.

Que? You may be trying to use the launcher very very incorrectly.

Well, some mods need to be in a specific file with the core game so they have access to it's information. I think the Technic pack might not, because I figure it has it's own version of the game files included. I just put the technic launcher file on my desktop, where my Minecraft executable is, figuring that might work for both options.

Edit: Also, many people say to use the .jar file. How exactly do I do that? I can't open it by default, just unpack it with 7-zip, but then there's nothing to run inside.
