Download failes on random percentages

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Version of Java: Build 1.7.0_03-b05 64-bit

Description of Problem: Basically i am unable to actually get anywhere with a download. 2 days ago it was working perfectly and then came an update for tekkit, i tried updating and the download said "failed" at the end. Now i cannot run anything via technic launcher.

If i open up anything that needs downloading it will just fail the download at a random percentage. But if i have allready downloaded it i get an update that will fail, and not updating causes a white screen to stay on my launcher.

I have tried removing the .tekkit folder and reloading and it fails on load. I tried removing the whole .techniclauncher folder and reinstalling it and same problem when launching tekkit or yogbox or even vanilla. I re-downloaded java. I tried turning off my anti-virus while doing it, its allowed through my fire wall and anti-virus already.

I have looked through all the other posts and tried what anyone else has said but no luck.

Error Messages: There isnt really one, but i suppose this in the logs best fits it not working.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but the same thing happens to the regular minecraft launcher when minecraft.net is down/having issues. Try it again in an hour or so and see if the same problem occurs.

its been doing it for 2 days now. like i said it was perfectly fine back then.

also my normal minecraft loads up fine and i can play it. just seems to be a download problem with the launcher :/

Just a shot in the dark here, but try running it with your firewall turned off?

TRIED: Nothing.... stopped at 26% of just downloading the actual minecraft.jar for tekkit. got to 31% last time :/

EDIT: Just tried voxel, yogbox and vanilla to play and all are failing at the minecraft.jar thing aswell, its worse than before.

this happened to me. heres how u fix it.

Goto search and type in add or remove files.

open it and and remove: AVG, McAfee, or Norton

Thank you for telling him how to uninstall shitty AV's.

The above is true, if you're using any of those AV's, uninstall them and switch to Microsoft Security Essentials. It's pretty much the best out right now anyway.

I will Agree that Mcafee and Norton Suck ass, But AVG has Been good to me since the start and i haven't had a single problem with it.

plus the launcher worked perfectly well for about 1 month with AVG and wasnt till this last tekkit update that it messed up. i can pretty much guarantee its not AVG.

No you can't. You can't guarantee anything. It is posted clearly that AVG can cause issues and frequently does. AVG may have "treated you good" to your knowledge, but many people, some very professional in the realm of "computers", have stated it's an abysmal pile of crap.

Uninstall AVG, install MSE. Your computer will be that much safer, and even if it doesn't fix your Tekkit problem, you'll be happy when three months from now that random porn site doesn't destroy your computer.

i shall uninstall it JUST to test if its causing a problem with technic launcher. if nothing changes i shall be redownloading it. i download a ton of shit all the time and havent had a virus (that iv known of) in a long long time. AVG is on my trust list, and only untill this fails me will i ever change it.

you could as well try to completely deactivate the program. I don't know whether AVG can completely disabled, but worth a try (all AV should have the option to be deactivated)....

Well. Now im really stumped, i have tried literally everything (bar a reinstall of windows itself) <--- which wont be happening.

i think im just gonna have to give up on technic and stick to old boring minecraft. not that i will ever play normal mc again.

le sigh.
