server says its open but i cant join plz help

i made a server and started it but when i go to the multiplayer menu it says cant connect to server i can only join by typing localhost as the ip.

probably a personal firewall issue. The TCP/IP stack handles requests to localhost differently then IP addresses. So depending on your PFW you can access localhost, but not the IP. To make it run via the IP you have to make the proper exception to forward traffic trhough your PFW on the necessary ports.
