What does this mean and how do I fix it?

Question

I've been trying to run the Technic pack mod, and after it loads, I select a world, and it starts up. But then it goes back to the loading screen almost instantaneously and says "saving chunks," as if I had saved and quit. Then the screen either turns white and stays that way, or the message below appears:

No matter which one occurs, I always have to force quit. What do I need to do to fix this? I run Mac OSX 10.6.8. And my Java is "Java SE 6" version 1.6.0_31-b04-415 with either 32 or 64 bit. I am not really great with computers and I have searched the forums for help, but with no prevail. If anyone can help out, that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, in terms of the launcher, the "Mod select" button below the username and password doesn't work (I click it and it does nothing). And for "options," which "Select Modpack build" option should I be using? What should my "Technic Launcher Settings" look like in terms of what I should have checked and selected and not?

I want to apologize for not being very technically savvy. I am really excited to play the Technic pack though. What I have played from it has been a lot of fun. Anyways, if someone could help me/instruct me in what I need to do/change/set/etc. in order to get this to work properly, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you!

P.S. I don't know if this is worth mentioning, but the other mods (Vanilla, tekkit, yogsbox, and hack/mine) all work fine. It's just the Technic mod in the mod select drop down on the lefthand side of the launcher that gives me these problems.

It's a classic block id conflict, but that shouldn't happen as you seem to be playing the rec build and the two mods conflicting are part of that. Have you tinkered with the config files in any way, or tried to install mods on top of technic??

As far as the mod select button is concerned, read the stickies and you'll find the solution. You should always read the stickies before posting a problem.

Thank you for posting!

What exactly is a "block id conflict"? Is there a way to disable (or something similar) those two mods that are conflicting?

I haven't tinkered anything or tried to install mods on top of technic.

I will check the stickies for a solution for the mod select button.

Thank you again for helping me out! I really do appreciate it. I get easily frustrated when things like this happen and something isn't working as intended. So it means a lot to know people are willing to help. Thank you!

as a temp fix, you could disable crafting table II, but a block id conflict is when two different mod blocks attempt to map to the same block id. The reason why they don't just assign different id's is that minecraft current has a limit of 255 block ids

Yeah I would simply disable Crafting Table II in the mod select file, I personally never use it as there is nei, and for often used and complicated recipes I use a wall of rp2 project tables...

If you absolutely want it you would have to change the block id manually but that is a bit more complicated, you have to search for a free block id with nei first and then change the id in the crafting table II config file. Try searching the forums, there's a detailled how to somwhere...

But you could also try to delete the entire technicssp folder and downloading everything again, if you really didn't change anything this shouldn't have happend in the first place, so it seems like something went wrong...
