Other than the IC laser, what are some good mods that provide the abilith to shoot or fire in a direction and get the blocks ot hits? Block-destroying explosive explosive arrows or whatever, but that give you all the bits like ee bombs do.

Or alternately, something that lets me fire a nova catalyst at a wall and have it detonate.

It requires a bit of time and resources to set up correctly but the Laser mod does something similar to what you want.

Create an advanced Red Beam and redirect it to the level you want it to mine out then set up a Cyan beam to transport the dropped items to you. The Cyan beam works sort of like a tractor beam. The higher the level of beams the stronger they are, so if you want to mine very deep you'll need powerful red and cyan lasers.

I haven't used this mod extensively so I can't say for certain about this but it's worth a try.

Hmm, both good suggestions; Thank you.

I think I'm going to see how difficult it is to restore EE's old functionality, of dropping everything as individual blocks instead of those new item balls. The balls are nice for slower computers, but I like entity spam. :-)

I like entity spam, but even my Phenom II X4 955 (3.2 GHz) server doesn't. It just starts croaking when you have a few thousand stacks of items floating about. Not to mention even my Phenom II X2 555 (also 3.2 GHz) desktop and Core2Duo 2.6 laptop can't handle it.

1) Client, not server.

2) Hundreds, not thousands.

3) I have the 3.4 GHz version of that processor. :D
