This isn't with technic, as i figured i would post this here, but i keep just throwing random shit into my mods folder on my vanilla pack. I was reassigning conflicting block ids, and randomly, redpower was remapping to block 240, which is used by ic2. But, when i went to go check the config, assuming autoassign was enabled and screwing up, i found autoassign disabled, and the block ids in the config were stil lset to the defaults, absolutely no ids were mapped to 240. anyone know what's going on?

My Redpower seems to take block ID changes fine (as far as I can tell), but it's actually IC2 that ignores them, forcing me to change all the other mods instead of just its IDs.

Are you using the 4096 fix? It may be something to do with that, possibly the mods erroneously doing error-checking to find that IDs > 255 to be invalid and reverting even though they're fine.

Would really need more information to figure out whats up, but rp doesn't use block 240 normally.

You aren't using normal notepad to edit the rp2 config file are you? Because that breaks it.

no, I am using the default ubuntu text editor(gedit), it normally works just fine. If that is the problem, I will just use a different text editor :P

EDIT: and yes, I am using the 4096 block id fix, but I was having this problem before installing it, I installed 4096 to attempt to fix it.

Ah, I don't know anything about the text editor(s) on Linux.

That said, we really can't give you any pointers to the problem without a proper error message log.

the only error log that shows up says that slot 240 is already occupied by ic2 when trying to add rp logic, do you really want it?

Couldn't hurt, but probably wouldn't help.

Probably pasting your .cfg files would help, the redpower and ic2 ones since you say that's what the conflict is between. So what you're saying is, you change the redpower block id, and then it changes back to default when you load the game? Change another setting in the file--something that isn't a block id--and see if that changes back to default too.

no, the block ids are still the default, but the logic id keeps remapping to 240, even though it says it should map to a different id, and autoassign keeps getting disabled.
