UL7RA Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 There are some guys on the server which use alt key characters in they'r name. It seems that I cannot type these characters in the chat directly, and I don't have acces to the console. What should I do? (Minecraft 1.1, so copy paste won't work) Tried changing the keyboard layout, no effect at all, the characters will appear like this ?????? (the question marks) Quote
arctichenry Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 If you are on a mac, hold down the option (alt) key whelst pressing a key, if you are on a windows, then IDK, but may be similar. Quote
Niavmai Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Windows has number codes, which are performed with the number pad. é would be alt+130. You can look up a full list online. Quote
UL7RA Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 I press alt and the number, bot no character will appear in there. HEEELP!!! Quote
dracosilv Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 You need to use the numpad.. not the numbers across the top of the keyboard. On a laptop.. you'd need to activate the 'function' key.. or FunctioN (FN) Lock to type those numbers... Just make sure if you use FN-lock.. to unlock them.. since they occupy part of the keyboard's area. Quote
UL7RA Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 I know dude, and that's what I'm doing (I'm on a PC), but the characters still won't appear, even if pressing them on the NumPad with NumLock activated. You know, I'm not that stupid. Quote
jakj Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 If you use the Character Map accessory, it should on mouseover (or click, I forget) tell you the keystrokes required to produce any Unicode character. Also, "they'r"? Really? I mean......really? (Really?) Quote
RebelNode Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 If it's just the server staff using unicode in their names then they have probably just edited the files on the server side. ٩(-̮̮̃-̃)۶ Quote
UL7RA Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 @jakj As you might not know, we aren't all native english speakers. @RebelNode The problem is that the staff ISN'T using them, but some players that swear. Quote
