Zealapeal
AHEAD OF TIME: I've been browsing this forum looking for a "Technical" board for quite some time and I personally haven't found it at all. If I am in the WRONG SECTION, let me know and redirect me. Please. ... Like, please. Basic Information: Windows 7 x64 bit, enough RAM to run a server on my own machine without use of exterior server, overwhelming processing power, and running Java 7. My Problems in a Nutshell: I can't find where to start. There is NO information WHATSOEVER that I've found AT ALL on how to get a Tekkit server started from scratch, which is what I need to do. A server. From scratch. That runs Tekkit. <----- Problem in the biggest nutshell ever. Most tutorials I've run into say, "Download this, throw it in the random server you must have, go. Have fun." How the hell am I supposed to work with that? Am I supposed to already have my own 'server' so to speak? On Minecraft.net, you can either download Minecraft_Server.exe which creates a server for you. Do I need that as my "base component" before advancing? Also, I've downloaded the Tekkit server pack 3.0.3 thus far. It gives me a few files, and a launch.bat. I've run standard Minecraft servers before, and I've created one of these bat files on my own. It's in my instinct to click it to run the server. Problem is, I get the lovely error of: C:\Users\SupremeRuler\Desktop\Tekkit_Server_3.0.3>java -Xmx3G -Xms2G -jar Tekkit.jar nogui 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. C:\Users\SupremeRuler\Desktop\Tekkit_Server_3.0.3>pause Press any key to continue... Is that normal? I've read every guide I could get my grubby little fingers on and I don't understand a bit of it. Why? I don't have the starting materials. Why? It was never explained to the absolute newbie at this. TLDR Summary (Which This Isn't Long at All, By The Way): Where do I start when starting from scratch (meaning, absolutely NO components to ANYTHING related to servers WHATSOEVER are downloaded on my machine), what do I download, how do I install it, and where do I see my server GUI?
