  1. Did you mean "Your hosting isn't working? or it is working?
  2. Alright, I made it a .zip file and now, instead of loading all the way to 100% before saying the error, it gives it to me immediately as I press the launch button. I've used 7zip in case thats useful to note.
  3. okay, so I'll use 7zip, but do I need to make the file a .zip or a .rar ?
  4. Also, my modpack was added to the archive as "Modpack.rar" does that affect anything? the tutorials I've watched all let it go as .rar files but has it changed?
  5. I had originally installed it into my public folder on dropbox. I am able to play using the modpack if I install it manually (The reason I want it on the Platform is because my friends want to use them and it makes it way easier to update/edit the modpack for all of us.) so I'm guessing it's structured properly. And I don't use an anti-virus or my fire-wall while playing games since they normally interfere. So sadly, none of these apply to me :\ Thanks for the help though. And I'll be sure to update the OP so people son't suggest these a second time.
  6. Alright, so a while ago, I posted in the forums about help on adding mods to the tekkitmain folder for my personal server where me and 2 other people play. Now the main suggestion was: "Use a custom modpack, that'll make it easier for everyone to have the same version of each mod." So now I've uploaded my modpack, but when I try to use it on the launcher it reaches 100% and gives me the error: error unzipping gives me the modpack directory and asks me to contact the author. Has anyone found a fix for this? Also, please don't post: "I have the same problem." I'd like to keep this post linear and easy to navigate through for people who have the same problem and not a hassle because it's full of "I have the same problem." posts. Edits or: "What people have already suggested": I have the link to the modpack through my public folder on dropbox. I am not using any anti-virus or my firewall. I can play the modpack if I install it manually. I used WinRar to make the modpack (Add to archive "Modpack.rar")
  7. Alright, we figured the problem out. Turned out that my friend's Java decided to do some weird stuff and wasn't recognized as 64-bit anymore so he ended up giving 1GB to Tekkit, which caused it to crash on our server because of the running machineries/power sources. Got it installed and working for him.
  8. And, of course, things couldn't just go easy on this one... So, one of my friends can't connect to the server, he get's a gray/white screen upon logging in. I've deleted his player.dat file but that doesn't work. I also sent him my personal "Mods" folder to be sure he was using the same version of everything. Any ideas on what my be causing this issue?
  9. Alright, got it to work. I was a bit annoyed about how I didn't know that most Forge mods now use the same file for SMP and SSP now... but, I finally got it working.
  10. If you're using the "Recommended build" in the Tekkit options, you most likely won't have the Forge Mod Loader version required. Try using the 1.1.5 manual selection build from the options. If you're already using that version than I have no idea what may be causing your issue.
  11. Sorry for the no-reply period. My parents decided to do a "Surprise camping trip" and, since it's raining we've come back for the time. So I've successfully installed Forestry without any problems, now I'm going to try doing Thaumcraft and Thaumic tinkerer. I'll let you guys know if there's a problem.
  12. But can I install a mod that requires a previous version of forge on a newer version of forge?
  13. Do I need to go and install the latest build instead of the recomended one? And if so, will enabling that make my game constantly update?
  14. By the way, that was a serious question. Does anyone know if I can install a mod that needs, lets just say version x.x.x.600 of forge even though I have version x.x.x.700? Or does that screw everything over?
  15. So, I was just wondering; has anyone figured out an alternative to scaffolding yet? That is hands down the one thing that's missing that's getting on my nerves. I liked them when building, and I build a lot! It's just that it get's annoying building bridges without them...
  16. I'm kind of new to custom modpacks and I was actually planning on making one originally. But that didn't work out. Although I'd be interested in knowing what you mean by "Start with tekkit". Do you mean that I should copy the Tekkitmain folder's content to make a modpack? Also that link you gave me gives me the current mods version. Unless I'm not seeing something, what I meant was I wanted to know what version of forge Tekkit was using, and what versions of each mod were compatible with that version. Forestry specificaly doesn't keep track of what forge you need for the older versions of his mods. Unless... can I install older versions of mods and it'll be fine even though I'm using a newer version of forge?
  17. Alright so me and a friend wanted to play Tekkit, but there's just one problem. We don't have Foresrty, Thaumcraft or Thaumic Tinkerer on Tekkit anymore. Forestry was removed a while ago, and I don't know when Thaumcraft was removed, but that's not the point. What I want to know is: How can I install these mods on my game and on my server? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Yeah, don't know how I forgot this, but figured I should specify. What I want is to know mostly which versions of which mods do I need for them to be compatible with Tekkit and where to put them (both in the client and the server). (Also: I'm sorry if I'm slow on replies, we're having some weather problems in the area and the internet connection is a bit slow because of it.)
  18. Ok, found how to solve it. My Internet Explorer WAS running 32-bit, had to change my security settings, restart the computer, reinstall Java, restore my security settings and restart again, now it works. I might make a guide on how to fix this now that I've done it for other people who have the same problem... Lemme tell you that if you F-it-up, you aren't going to stumble on how to fix it by accident.
  19. Erg... I found out what the problem was, at least I hope. I was using google chrome originally, and people said it was a 32-bit browser so I used IE10 instead to install Java, turns out my computer was using IE10 32-bit edition for some reason... Gonna install the 64-bit edition, then I'll reinstall java 7 64-bit and see if it works.
  20. I used the "Java -version" in cmd to check my version and I went through the "Uninstall program" section to verify I only had 1 Java installed.
  21. Ok, so the title says it all pretty much. I have 6Gb of RAM and I seem to only be able to go up to 1Gb on my launcher. Now before you say either: "Do you have 64-bit Java installed?", "Is your computer a 64-bit machine?" or "You probably have the wrong version or two versions of Java installed." Yes, I have 64-bit Java installed properly, yes my computer is a 64-bit machine and no, I don't have two different versions of Java. I just spent about 2-3 hours trying to figure out how to fix this issue and I've gone through a full uninstallation than reinstallation of Java. So I'd like to know what might be the cause of this issue.
