  1. Had a bit of problem recently with war world. This has been resolved and we're learning valuable lessons!
  2. WAR! Phase 3 of our first server war has begun. The build phase, where each nation builds their castle, and will defend it to the last man in the final phase in one week.
  3. Got some graphical mojo? Create a server banner for us and win some items! Details on our website at http://bit.ly/R772he
  4. Over the evening while I was sleeping, someone bypassed our item bans. Please do not ask what the banned item was, we prefer not to divulge that. Through deliberate means, a block that we have banned for this very reason was placed and the server could not cope with it as a result. This user has been banned since it is not the first time we have caught him trying to do this. However, rest assured it isn't one of our active players and his ban will have zero impact on the playerbase. I apologize for the downtime (drink) and we will be taking steps to make sure this doesn't happen again. Thanks for your patience.
  5. Server was up and down like a Jack Russell Terrier over the night due to a more obscure bug crashing the server. Took a while to track down but its been resolved and steps will be taken to ensure it doesn't happen again.
  6. Sounds like you have a malformed config. Works just dandy for me. I HAD noticed that all nodes need SOMETHING to disable in order to not reset to default. So if you have say world banned, just toss a cannon in it, and it won't reset.
  7. We've finally fixed one of the more pesky bugs plaguing the server. We've also started the groundwork for our first server war! Nations are starting to prepare, gathering materials for nano and quantum armor. Soon, war initiatives will start up!
  8. Hi folks, I'm trying to debug a pesky problem with the usage of buckets. I'm not entirely sure when it started. Here's what I know: Players cannot use water buckets (Unconfirmed) Players cannot use lava buckets (Confirmed) Players cannot use buckets to get milk from cows (Unconfirmed) Lava Bucket: A player right clicks a lava bucket on the ground; the lava disappears a moment later - at this time, the bucket appears empty until its next right clicked, then appears full again. Any ideas? I'm at my wits end here. My next step is to disable each plugin manually, but I'm trying to avoid that. I've gone through every single config file I can think of. Here is what I've confirmed: Essentials: prevent: lava-flow: false water-flow: false water-bucket-flow: false fire-spread: true lava-fire-spread: false flint-fire: false lightning-fire-spread: true portal-creation: false tnt-explosion: false tnt-playerdamage: false fireball-explosion: false fireball-fire: false fireball-playerdamage: false creeper-explosion: false creeper-playerdamage: false creeper-blockdamage: false enderdragon-blockdamage: true enderman-pickup: false villager-death: false blacklist: # Which blocks should people be prevented from placing placement: # Which items should people be prevented from using usage: # Which blocks should people be prevented from breaking break: # Which blocks should not be pushed by pistons piston: Towny: No config options that I know of Worldguard: I don't think its worldguard, but here's my config: http://pastebin.com/RXYbsjbh TekkitCustomizer: There are no perms for buckets, lava buckets etc defined. PermissionsEx: We don't use modifyworld, so there are no perms issues here. Additionally, we've allowed lava bucket use explicitly, no affect. 9. Plugin Name: Tekkit Customizer BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/tekkitcustomizer/ Description: Customizable item/block banner, with default values for commonly-banned Tekkit items. Extremely easy to configure, requires no permissions management unless you want to make exceptions for some of your players. Can even retroactively remove banned items from the world and player inventories, and log information about confiscated items for further investigation (to see how players are getting the banned items). Tekkit Compatibility: Made for tekkit. I think its a decent plugin, and less hit or miss than ModifyWorld. Combined with TekkitRestrict, its pretty easy to lock things down.
  10. Tj: Gar bypassed protections. He was banned after a warning about it. Amegos was repeatedly rude to other players and staff despite regular requests to stop. You were banned because you logged into the server just to pick a fight. Coolkid was identified as a problem player, being overall juvenile and making the server a negative experience. All in all, you folks are NOT welcome on MY server. I pay the bills, and that's it. This isn't me power tripping, this is me not wanting to play with people like you; repeatedly rude, lying to the me about what you had, and repeated disrespect towards other players. Further disputes will not resolve anything. You're welcome to try, but your bans will not be lifted.
  11. TJBill; I understand your frustration. However, your rant is a little one sided. We were patient with you guys and tried to work with you, but you constantly made the server an unpleasant experience for other players; no one was 'jealous' of you, they just didn't feel you were the right fit. I understand you're complaint regarding the screenshot, but I also have server logs of your team being equally difficult. This started with one of your team bypassing protections, and he was banned for it after being warned. Amegos picked a fight with bother players and myself as a result, and it escalated. We tried to resolve it, but it ended with bans. We do have warnings installed, which are our approach for letting people know that their behavior is unacceptable. Best of luck finding a new server. We wish nothing but the best for you folks.
  12. There's a known problem with lava buckets - we're actively trying to find the plugin that is denying use of them on terrain. Its not any of the usual suspects.
  13. Not fishy at all to have an age requirement, and it was approved with said requirement. Thanks though.
  14. Isn't that the worst banner ever? Tekkit Version: 3.1.2 Server IP: forevermachines.com Ram: 16GB Host: Dedicated Server Web: http://forevermachines.enjin.com/ Note: This server is currently preparing for its first Server War! ForeverMachines is the result of wanting more. More PVP, more balance, more economy. We were tired of connecting to a server only to see the terrain obliterated, tired of donors getting all the trimmings, and tired of looking for a new server every few weeks. Eventually it was suggested that a server we could control was the solution. ForeverMachines is new. While we had a rocky start, we overhauled our entire server to design a game that we wanted to play, and a server that would still provide things to do after all the machines are built. We encourage grand building, ludicrous factories and hording massive amounts of resources. Our machines... are forever. Okay, I promise not to do that again. Our server comes fully equipped with heated seats and power windows. Well not really, but we do have a few gadgets and gizmos to make things interesting. The first thing that we tried to do with FM is direct a progression system. Unlike other servers where you might hunker down in your hole and collect resources with EE, we throw you to the wolves and see what you're made of. There is no begging on FM, no hand-outs, and we roll on hard mode so you'd best make sure you're equipped. Some of our plugins include: MCBans You're sure you've never been banned before? BoseConomy For the aspiring millionaire, earn money even while offline with regular paydays! Did I mention that everyone starts with 5000 credits? Towny To protect your factories and homes, start a town. Found a nation. Wage wars. HelpTicket Tired of waiting for us to get online? File a ticket and we'll get them when we log on. LWC The defacto standard of protecting your items. Lock your machines and chests to make sure it doesn't get stolen! SignShop Chestshop is outdated and doesn't work great with Tekkit. Hyperconomy is bloody hard for new folks to understand. Signshop is the interim for the custom ForeverMachines economy plugin. SimpleWarnings Admins dish out warnings as needed but we're not tyrants. Stack up five warnings and you're looking for a new home. Spamguard Yeah. We hate spam too. There are three nations within ForeverMachines. These nations are in a state of perpetual hostility with one another and wars do break out. The rivalry is intense, similar to red vs blue, Yankees vs Red Sox or Israelis vs the Palestinians. Player killing within your own nation is discouraged. Each nation has their own ranks to earn, and these ranks in turn unlock items and blocks. Your way of progressing, our way of getting to know you. Mystic Nation The nerds of ForeverMachines, Mystic Nation is one of experts and merchants. They generally don't stray too far from safety, instead preferring to amass wealth and build machines. Ranks: Scribe, Mage, Seer, Oracle, Archmage Clockwork Nation The Mad Scientist nation. They balance PVP with ingenuity, and go mining fully decked out. This nation is still in progress. Merc Nation Killers for hire and assassins, Merc Nation doesn't hide behind PVP protection. They live in the wild, claiming their land and slaughtering anyone nearby. Ranks: Soldier, Knight, Dragoon, Captain, General By now, most of you know the drill. No nukes, mining lasers and so forth. However, this list has been greatly considered. It may seem like a lot, but if you can't understand that we disable these items to keep PVP fair(ish) and the economy balanced(ish) perhaps another server is better for you. EE is disabled for crafting. We believe EE is for the lazy, and at FM we are not lazy. However, you can earn the right to purchase swiftwolf rings and alchemical bags and other goodies. Buildcraft Item Pipes - Not permitted to place though you're still permitted fluid pipes and power pipes. For everything else, use Redpower. Mining Laser - This is mostly due to the rapid destruction that it can cause, as well as unreasonable amounts of items on the ground. Quantum Chest - Its a PVP server, and these items make you nigh invincible. Where's the fun in that? Water strainer - some really nasty things go wrong when using this. Crystal Chest - We're on the fence about this, but you can't deny that these cause client lag like crazy. Items you'll have to earn access to through rank up: Quarry, Filler, Builder, Template Drawing Table, Energy Link, Oil Fabricator, Tesla Coil, Land Mark, Nuclear Reactor, Reactor Chamber, Block Breaker, Igniter, Lava Fabricator, TNT, Lava, TNT Cart, Industrial TNT, Lava source, Lava Bucket, Forcefield Core & Mass Fabricator Some of these should be no-brainers, but lets list them anyways: Trashing the terrain with no reason is griefing. Griefing is ONLY permitted in the wild. ANY griefing within towns will result in a ban. If its in the wild and unlocked, take whatever you like. Do not bypass protections. Cussing is allowed, but keep it reasonable. Absolutely no racism or sexism. You must be 16+ to join. Do not disrespect the staff. We have little patience for it. Spawn! Merc Capital Lore Capital Mall. Nation Arms Towers. Please understand that it is a mature server. You MUST be 16+ to join.
  15. I've been working on a mod like this. I love MineColony (in fact I still play it) but it just wasn't enough. I wanted multiplayer RTS, where your towns would in fact have armies. I created 50 blocks (via metadata) that created a villager that had a specific task. Great in theory, right? Well, as it turns out, AI & pathfinding in MC is hard. Millionaire suffered from this I know. Minecolony does a great job over short distances. But what happens when you want to pathfind over a couple thousand blocks? You have to use two dimensional A*, at which point you'll notice performance problems. At short distances, native MC pathfinding works alright. Anything over that, and you'll have to write your own. Next problem: what happens if you wanted to move multiple groups of entities at the same time? Then you're getting into moving multiple boids in groups, have to deal with collision logic & flock logic. What I decided to do was use a general, a master entity that ran the pathfinding over two dimensions; the rest of the boids would follow him. But this was also a problem because you also need to spread them out, and they need to do local path finding to check for safe terrain (otherwise they might run into a cactus/lava/fire etc). Here's a prototype video for what I was thinking I made a while back. Hadn't implemented the follow logic at this point. Now, onto the topic of physics & destruction of builds influencing their overall structure, as Xylord said that's doable, but its going to be a challenge. The casting to entities and back isn't what bugs me, its making it believable. However, standard MC conventions are just to use explosions, so I like the idea.
  16. Hey dude! How's things?

  17. Saw this on bukkit dev yesterday - didn't work that great as a fresh install, but I love the concept and control you're giving admins. I'll be downloading again soon to give it more evaluation. Watching with interest sir.
