  1. I too, have heard of this "Reallive" game; many of my friends seem to play it, but I can't seem to find it online!! Would someone "in the know" please post a link to this "Reallive" game? One of my friends seems to think it also might be spelled "Real Life", but I couldn't find it under that either. Does it run multiplayer? Do we get access to a server? I wonder if Amazon AWS/EC2 would host "Real Life"?
  2. Update: I've been tinkering with Zombe's mod pack since DragnHntr suggested it a couple weeks ago, but I haven't been successful yet; I got it working in vanilla minecraft, but in Tekkit it spits out an error that the flymod hasn't been installed and re-disables the mod in the Zombe config file; I'm certain it's just a problem detecting the modfile inside minecraft.jar due to the code differences between the vanilla version and the tekkit version of the client, but I haven't isolated it yet. If I'm successful, I shall post the update with instructions on how to mod the mod to make it work with tekkit here; if not, at least there's the CJB mod instructions at the beginning of this thread!
  3. Yea, me too! It's invigorating, nay, downright inspiring! I just walked out on my balcony and screamed it to the world! (nevermind the loud cursing of the neighbors, it's surely not me they're upset with...) Enthusiasm is great!! Now, what was I just yelling at my neighbors about?
  4. I agree; I think it would be a lot of fun. I may try taking a look to see if it's something I could port into bukkit/spout, but if someone else does it first, all the better! Perhaps if I'm successful (or if someone else is), we might be able to convince the crew to put it in a future release! I don't really know what all goes into the approval process for adding mods to the Tekkit Client/Tekkit Server distros, though, so it's entirely possible that it may not be approved anyway. All we can do is conquer one mountain at a time though, right? :)
  5. Also, just for future reference, I'm pretty sure things like this should be posted on the bug board, but I could be wrong... If you come back and one of the mods moved your thread to the bug board, that's why it happened! :)
  6. There are a couple of things I've encountered which caused this same error, beyond that I haven't the foggiest... First, are you playing with the same client as the server? (Vanilla client for vanilla server, tekkit client for tekkit server, etc.) Second, if you are playing on a tekkit server with the tekkit client, have you upgraded your version of Java to JRE 1.7u3 (32bit/64bit depending on your windows install)? The first thing my wife found by accident by trying to play on my Tekkit server with her original minecraft client, the second thing I found when originally trying to get Tekkit server and the Tekkit client to work.
  7. All of Naturam's views/prejudices and assumptions aside, I really hope this info helped those of you who are in a position similar to mine. I look forward to being able to contribute to the community further in the future! I've really enjoyed Tekkit so far (and my wife as well apparently, as she hasn't logged off of my server since I got the mods working except to eat, sleep, use the shower, etc.) Now, on to some of the other fine posters! To DHBM and MrOxiMoron: After reading more info about both the Rendering Gale and the Hurricane Boots, they do sound like cool items to use. I may give them a try out soon, so you have my thanks! To DragnHntr: I remember trying to install Zombe's mod pack when we were still on our first Bukkit server, and became thoroughly frustrated with it; that was, however, quite some time ago, and before quite a bit of modding experience, to boot. I'm game to try it again, and if I can get it to work I shall post any help I can give with that on here too! And finally, to all of you who stood up for me in the face of all of the negativity, I thank you all, very much!
  8. I will explain the problem with this at the end of this post instead of typing it twice. As I attempted to make clear in my post above, my friends and I have at this point completely shunned public servers due jerkwads doing the stupid stuff you're attempting to accuse me of wanting to do. We run our own server, and that's the only multiplayer environment we play in. Why don't we simply switch to creative mode and make all the materials we want? While we like to do things like being able to see through stuff and fly, and in the tekkit environment build things that aren't in the vanilla game, we like to play the game, too. Yes it's a modified environment from the original, but we don't choose to use every single cheat/hack/mod/whatever out there, because if you can do everything without effort, what's the point? You are welcome to your opinion, and I'm sure that there are others that share it implicitly. It would be worth noting, however, that you are on a forum for discussing all aspects of Tekkit/Technic Pack(which is a modded environment containing both client and server mods and hacks) and Tekkit/Technic by that very nature, at the heart of the matter, is the epitome of everything you're arguing against. 'Nuff said.
  9. That's easy; I run my own server for me and my friends, and none of us ever really play on the public servers due mostly to the sheer mass of immature players we find there. We all got burnt out really quickly with the greifing, crowding, immature banter, drama, and many other things all associated with a public server that can be found by every ten-year-old with an internet connection and a minecraft license without regards to their maturity level and respect for others... I figure that if we got fed up enough with all of that as quickly as we did, there's probably many, many others out there like us who have taken the same path to get away from it. Running our own server has enabled us to try a lot of interesting server mods (most of which we'd never gotten to try, like flying for instance) and best of all, we no longer have to worry about any of that negative crud we'd encountered on public servers. As if that alone weren't enough, it wasn't until we started running our own server and playing with mods that we found Tekkit and the Technic Pack. We fell in love with it from the start, and have even considered taking an active role on the Industrial Wiki as a result. So there ya have it, in a nutshell! Cheers! -Garenthino MOD EDIT: Don't do that.
  10. HELLO EVERYBODY!! After much fruitless searching for a mod which would let us fly in Tekkit SMP, I started experimenting with known good mods for regular minecraft and I FOUND A SOLUTION which does not involve a jetpack with limited fuel! The CJB Mod pack if just installed normally does not work, and causes minecraft to crash with a grey screen listing the plugins; however, the CJB mod doesn't modify files that Tekkit needs persay, it's just conflicting with one of the mods that come with Tekkit. It will work, it just needs further configuration. I got it to work, and here's how I did it: First, you need to install Player API http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/738498-125api-player-api/ for whatever Tekkit release you're using; for instance, if you're using the v3 dev build, (minecraft 1.2.5), use the most recent Player API, but if you're using the recommended Tekkit release, (minecraft 1.1), you need to use the Player API 1.1 release. Once you have Player API installed, it's time to install CJB. Again, use the most recent CJB release if you're using the dev release of Tekkit, or the CJB 1.1 release if you're using the recommended release of Tekkit. (Just do a google search for CJB 1.2.5 or CJB 1.1 to find the proper download) The install proceeds like normal, but then once you've installed, before you play the client you need to delete two of the mod files as they conflict with another mod that comes with Tekkit. The two mod files you need to delete from the ./tekkit/mods folder are: - CJB_ITEMS.zip - CJB_ITEMSPAWNER.zip Also, don't bother installing the x-ray plugin in minecraft.jar, it's broken; I haven't figured out a way around this one yet; Hope this helps, and have a great day, ya? -Garenthino MOD EDIT: Don't do that. P.S.: If anyone figures out a way to get the x-ray plugin to work, or finds a different x-ray plugin that works in conjunction with Tekkit + CJB, please reply to this thread and let me know!
