It's a waste only if they don't enjoy it. Better than five bucks on a coffee quickly gone.

With nowhere near the initial investment expenditure nor the number of players. It also was not a true MMO, so it required far less processor power, bandwidth, and drive space. With more simultaneous characters in an area, every bit of data each one of them generates has to be sent to every other person, and that's an exponential growth.

Wow, really? Um. They are really going all-out with the good-will PR, aren't they? On the one hand, this actually increases my respect of and interest in them. On the other hand, it makes me worry even more that this model won't be sustainable in the long-term. One-time purchase, cosmetic-only microtransactions other than large expansion content, and encouraging flagrant usage of bandwidth... I really do worry. I honestly can't think of any games that use this model that don't include pay-for-power microtransactions other than League of Legends. That's not a lot of security for a for-profit entity in a capitalist environment. That said, if they succeed with this model and make this game profitable in the long term while still not adding in serious pay-to-win elements, it will be a giant fluttering flag in the faces of every other company, and we might even see more games go down this route in the future. And that would be very good for us, the consumers.

Beta names don't carry over into release. All you're doing is costing a good company unnecessary money.

For you. You still don't understand the difference between fact and opinion. You like frames more than pistons: Great; I don't. For me, frames are for motive machinery, like builders, diggers, and the like. Pistons are for dynamic structures and mechanisms, like apertures, signs, hazards, and the like. Different benefits to each.

Rounding powers of two? You failed the nerd test.

This is a perfect example my point. I think you're absolutely nuts, and you think I'm totally bonkers. We're both right.

The most-certain way to not miss diamonds is to use a bloody divining rod. Good lord, people.

I'm worried about this game, honestly: I keep hearing mixed messages. I hear that it has completion tracking on each map segment, and then I hear that quest events are controlled by who does them when and it might not even happen that an event gets down to a certain point to allow you to do that. I hear that events scale to the number of people participating, and then I hear there are events that scale down only to a certain point, so if the area becomes unpopular, it becomes unplayable. So yeah...waiting to see whether this game will be worth bothering with for me. I have no intention of spending money on -another- game that ends up having content rendered impossible or useless because of the whims of the short-attention-span kiddies.

Unless, y'know, you like pistons. It's arrogant and stupid to decide one way is better than another unless you have quantitative, objective proof. This is Minecraft, the ultimate sandbox game, where we can all do what the fuck we want simply because we want to.

Yeah, Notch's amazing programming skills, man... I love it when he writes code like this: if (x == 0 && y <= 6.0F) { if (x == 0) { ... It's almost like each of his hands codes independently, and doesn't tell the other hand what it's doing.

Dude, it's not just a different window manager: It's a completely-different paradigm of both interface and process. The general concepts of how to use a computer are there, but it's built for a different sort of user. The "new wave" of OS design (OS X, Windows 8, Unity) is aimed at basic home users, who think in terms of tasks, who when they approach a computer usually have a thing they want to do. A lot of us who grew up as computers were just becoming a thing, when the idea of owning a computer was special and rare, don't take them for granted. We use computers more like musical instruments or workbenches, and we have an intimate mental relation to how they work. For someone like me, Unity is actually an anchor on my feet, trying to spoonfeed my computer's power to me like having to go through a contractor to get a job done when I already have the crew and materials I need. No, Unity is not just a different look; It is a new process entirely, one which makes computing better than ever for grandma who just wants to print out the photos from the camping trip, but worse than ever for people like me who live and breathe computers.

Due to his personality -and- his hijacking of the fire class. Amazing.

"Dimensions" or some parallel world mod (Now a Mystcraft thread)

Good deal, man. That is the point of the Technic Pack, after all: To make manageable what is otherwise unmanageable. Even though I'm not part of the Team, it's good to know you're better able to have a pleasant modded-Minecraft experience through this project. -
Re: [MC 1.1/SSP 6.0.7] JAKJ's "Fair Trade" 0.1.0.0 (Apr. 8, 2012) Yes it will work with those trees because it doesn't require overriding the log objects. Also have an idea for a treetap extender. The hard part is the logic for separating trees that are joined at the leaves. Will probably have to detect trunks and take average distance betwen.

Re: [MC 1.1/SSP 6.0.7] JAKJ's "Fair Trade" 0.1.0.0 (Apr. 8, 2012) Glad to hear it. I'm trying to recapture some of the best elements in a form that eliminates the passivity of it all, bringing the "mine" back to "Minecraft" with EE installed. Right now I'm working on a new way to chop trees besides Treecapitator: Put your axe in a sort of long-handled clipper thing, then hold right-click on a tree and it chops the leaves and logs one at a time at regular speed. Also a similar device for ore veins, that can mine a whole vein if you put a divining rod in it (like radar) or just the visible blocks otherwise. And left-click will just use the tool normally. I feel this is balanced while letting you have neat EE tools the first night.

Taking the Potter of Duty kinect games into account, that is actually a Harry-Potter comparison. And how awful is that, eh?
