  1. Ok, so I derped and accidently removed php5-curl from my server the other day and didn't know it. Probably happened after I upgraded to 15.10 Ubuntu. So if the pack was unavailable, I'm sorry bout that.
  2. I would be interested in what folks think of the modpack. Please post your comments in this thread, or in the discussion section of the pack's page. http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/painfully-simple.710004 Thanks!
  3. I've found that DropBox does something to the archive (rare cases) where it changes the MD5 checksum between what's on your machine and what is downloaded. Have you tried another service like OneDrive (microsoft), or even maybe some other service? I personally use a dedicated server to host my files (thru solder). You could get yourself a cheapo web page hosting site (most come with 500MB of file storage) and use it to host your files. The reason I say this, is because when (not if) your pack becomes popular, DropBox will throttle your download and eventually block it entirely. But the thing to check would be your checksums between what you are uploading and what is stored on DropBox to start. Also, check this forum post about DropBox: DropBox breaks technic platform links At the bottom of the OP, it mentions using copy.com as an alternative.
  4. Your original post, the link for the video is broken. Just thought you'd like to know I'll check out your pack later though as it sounds intriguing!
  5. So, I've been working on a modpack unlike most others. This one uses mods that are either rarely used, compliment each other, or simple don't duplicate other mods in the pack. To that end, I give you "Painfully Simple". A brief outline of some of the anchor mods I'm using: Tinker's Construct w/ IguanaTweaks -- Simply to limit how quickly folks get diamond. I figure what's the point of having diamond within 10 minutes of the start of play? EnderIO -- Sure I could have used other mods, but EnderIO offers machines with dual-purpose, as well as stackable conduits. I can't stand it when conduits have to be next to each other taking up space that could be used for other things. So put them into the space of one conduit and take back your space. Thaumcraft 4 -- Provides some automation, epic armors, flight, and advanced mining. Oh, and even more epic bosses and mobs. Immersive Engineering -- Windmills and water wheels. Need I say more? Pistronics 2 -- cool things you can do with pistons and gears like massive gates that swing, or drawbridges that actually work! Or how about a piston that can move a block more than one space? Steve's Carts 2 -- basic level of farming. Automated wood harvesting. Railcraft -- a level of automation that is unparalleled with automatic switching and cart-linking! OpenComputers -- this is a big one. Ever written a Lua program and had to restart it everytime you enter a chunk or restart your game? Well OpenComputers has a persistent operating system! This means no more worrying about your robots and computers needing to be reset. They'll simply pickup wherever they left off. Optimizations -- I've included BetterFPS as well as Optifine to help with FPS output. Typically, I can get FPS boosts of around 10-20%. May not seem like much, but it helps. And once I get the test-server the way I want it, I'll be opening that up to the public as well! So, have I whet your appetites yet? If so, check it out over here: http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/painfully-simple.710004 Oh, and one more thing...be careful about digging dirt with just your hands...it could get "messy". 6. Thanks! It's always nice to meet new people and hear what they have to say about the pack.
  7. *Typing this as a B-52 flies over my house* I can see major changes to the pack in the coming weeks. Don't want to spoil the surprise, but I think there will be a mod put in that hasn't been updated since 1.2.5! Woot!
  8. Just a note, do you have permission to include Optifine in your modpack? Per their Copyright notice at the bottom of this post, you cannot distribute Optifine Publically or Privately without express written consent. Just some constructive feedback to keep you out of trouble.
  9. Another consideration, for a large pack, is that in order for it to even run on some computers, they will need a 64-bit version of Java (and a 64-bit OS) to run it. A 32-bit version can't access the memory above 1.5GB. I had the same problem with my modpack and removing some of the bloat helped. A disclaimer in the OP might let folks know that some of your mods require gobs of memory and for the best performance, they should have a 64-bit OS/Java install, as the pack will require every bit of that 4GB of RAM. Just some friendly feedback.
  10. That would be a good mod to add, but Ars Magica adds about 25MB of content. I believe that SinisterPixel is going more lightweight for those that have crappier computers, or even worse, a 32-bit OS/Java install.
  11. Update: I'll begin work on a project to make the mod-pack a bit lighter on the server side. I don't know if it's gonna be possible, but I'd like to try and convert it from Java to c++ or maybe python (like the Eve-Online servers). Just playing with ideas really. It won't in anyway impact the play-ability of the mod-pack, for the foreseeable future.
  12. Thanks for the feedback! Has anyone else tried it? I've put almost a year into tweaking this to be something unique and not-so-mainstream. Please give it a whirl?
  13. Link: http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/details/zhivs-tekklor.176524 Website: https://www.zhivco.com/site.php Description: What is TekkLor? TekkLor is a brainchild of mine. I was tired of all the other modpacks having just about everything in them. Don't get me wrong, I like them too, but I wanted a modpack that wouldn't be quite as easy as the rest. So I started to look for mods and tweaks that would complement each other, as well as provide me and my friends with a challenge. So the basic idea is a modpack that would require folks to work together, even for just a little while. That's where Ars Magica 2 and Thaumcraft come in. That's all well and good, but that only provides the Lore. Now we add the Tech. We now have Thermal Expansion and RotaryCraft! But it doesn't stop there. I wanted style and flair. So I added Pam's Mods (HarvestCraft, Weee Flowers, Melon Spawn, and more). And I wanted definite biomes. Sure other biomes are generated and may make the pack smaller, but Biomes O' Plenty has sooo much more! Add in Natura to give the Overworld more flair, and even make the Nether more than just a place to get lava. This was all well and good, but with just these mods, it might take you a few days of hard-core playing to finish them all. Nope. This won't do. So I added Tinker's Construct, then IguanaMan's Tweaks for Tinker's Construct. Why you ask? Because, quite frankly, I didn't like that with a little effort, you could have diamonds within a few hours of playing. Where's the fun in that?!!? So now you can't craft most of your starting vanilla tools. But how am I supposed to mine iron? Simple. You have to craft a flint pickaxe, and level that pickaxe up. Pfft. XP on a tool? Yes, XP on a tool. But that tool will stay with you for the rest of your life. Why? Because you can upgrade parts of it, add modifiers to it (better than enchants), and even rename your tools! Plus, there are many tiers of tools to keep you busy. Why would you craft a diamond sword that does only 6 hits of damage per swing...when you can craft a Rapier that does double digits of damage? I'll tell you why. Because the monsters are bigger and badder. There are monsters that have much more health. But you can also give yourself more health. From the basic 20 hit points all the way up to 80 hit points of health. But health isn't what it used to be. Now you have to contend with Hunger! That's right. As you work, run, play, and jump--your body uses up your hunger bar. Well I guess I'll just munch on some pork chops then. Three or four ought to do it. Nope. The easier it is to obtain the food, the more of it you'll need to replenish your hunger. But the more complex the recipes (over 300 of them), the more hunger it feeds, as well as the longer you stay well fed. And yes, you can starve to death. As a matter of fact, the lower your hunger, the more debuffs you suffer from. All of this combined together gives you TekkLor. I hope that you'll enjoy the pack, and hope you'll stop by the server to say hi to me, Zhivotnoya! I'll be there from time to time, and all my friends will let me know that you stopped by. I created this pack over a year ago, and have been tweaking it to be balanced, playable, and fun. So, download it, and I'll see you out there! --Zhiv Full List of Mods: Screenshots:
  14. I changed the ID's...but still didn't work. And if I remember correctly, I didn't change the id's originally. The error seems to be that it's trying to assign the ComputerBlock to the ComputerBlock...only with different internal id's (for the many different computers I have on the server files).
  15. Thanks, I'll give that a try...just hope I can figure out what it was so we don't loose a bunch of work on our world :)
  16. Launcher/pack Version: 1.0.1.3/Tekkit 2.1.1 Operating System: Win 7/64bit Ultimate Version of Java: build 1.7.0_04-b22 Description of Problem: I recently reinstalled Win7 because of some performance issues (my 32GB SSD was running out of space (it was my boot drive)). Well anyway, I backed up all the important files from my server, but not the actual entire server (plugins and such). When I backed everything up, the server was working fine.
