Would you be able to post a screenshot of your setup? In particular the pump GUI and layout of generator/pump blocks over the water.

Hey vidplace7 thank you so much for the NoLagg plugin, I can't believe I missed that one in my search. Has anyone used this plugin with a Tekkit server before? Any caveats or issues? I'll check it out this weekend & report back.

I run a small server (~15 people), and we're having some lag problems. Sometimes it's a bad setup - quarry or something overflows storage and a few thousand entities pile up, or a bunch of .2s timers running, things like that. Sometimes it's a lot less obvious like an iron pipe loop caused by a redstone update flipping a pipe. But it's a real pain to track this down. I spend a lot of time debugging it by teleporting all over looking for areas with a ton of entities, tracing pipes to see if stuff is backed up, searching for areas that make my framerate drop, that sort of thing. I can't expect everyone to always make the most efficient machine setup and never make a mistake. What I'd really like are better debugging tools,a way to show how much load a specific chunk is generating or the chunks that are eating up the most time per game tick, something along those lines. I've searched through bukkit plugins and not found anything, nor any offline map analyzer that would be of use, either. If anyone knows of anything that might help out, I'd appreciate it.

Sure, lots of ways to easily replace Forestry really -- except bees I guess, but I didn't want to be on Oprah anyways. I personally went with a tree-mangling thing made from a Filler+Builder, a Transposer floor, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. Turtles work too, they chop donw trees and doesn't afraid of anything. But I still want a Better Then Trees mod, just for the name alone.
-
Makes sense I mean I have my own personal forum just to ban everyone, doesn't everybody?? /foreveralone On a totally unrelated thread I tried to hire Alblaka to code a Better Then Trees mod to replace Forestry, but he wasn't interested... shame. I'd do it myself, but no time for code Dr Jones.

How would you customize EE to make it balanced?
Truculent replied to Naturam's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
I'd personally split it up into tiers. Each of the tiers is transmuted using it's own type of energy, tier1 EMC, tier2 EMC, tier3 EMC. Tier 1, common stuff - cobble, dirt, gravel, sand, plants & mob drops. Basically anything you can automatically farm or made solely out of things you can mass farm (for example charcoal, bookcases). Bottom 2 klein stars store this energy. Tier 2, uncommon stuff - iron, coal, clay, redstone, glowstone, obsidian. Middle 2 klein stars store this energy. Tier 3, rare and/or valuable stuff - diamond, gold, lapis. Top 2 klein stars store this energy. So you can turn gold into T3 EMC and make diamonds, or turn clay into T2 EMC to make glowstone, but you can't turn mushroom stew into diamonds OR turn diamonds into bread. Dark/red matter is transmuted using energy from all 3 tiers in appropriate ratio (tons more tier1 than tier3). They can't be turned back into EMC. Get rid of all easy ways to convert between tiers, and adjust the cost & fuel usage of the power items. Remove all passive EMC generation. Nerf iron golems. Etc. But then it's really a different mod. -
I can't wait to play this Batter Thine Whalebox mod! /s

How to make 250 scrap from 64 cobblestone

I build everything out of UUM now, it's the way of the future! -
How to make 250 scrap from 64 cobblestone
Truculent replied to Pyriell's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Why would you burn iron on saws to do this? It will chew through 2 iron per 7.3 UUM and that's assuming you use gem saws, once you burn those up it will be 4 iron per 7.3 UUM. It takes 5 UUM to make 4 iron, so yeah, 1/3 the UUM generation speed? Build a bigger cobblegen instead of wasting iron, IMO. -
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more icegiants? No.
-
They're pretty much icegiants all the way down.
-
In a way, yes. It's an unknown fact that KakerMix sprung fully formed from Notch's forehead, while CheapShot and Agelian grew from the tears that were shed when Notch lost his first fedora in a battle with an ice giant.

Yes as Jay? says, there are new crafting recipes to create compact solar panel blocks: 8 IC2 Solar + 1 LV Transformer = 1 LV Solar (emits 8 EU/t) 8 LV Solar + 1 MV Transformer = 1 MV Solar (emits 64 EU/t) 8 MV Solar + 1 HV Transformer = 1 HV Solar (emits 512 EU/t) So it takes 1 HV Transformer, 8 MV Transformers, 64 LV transformers and 512 IC2 solar panel to make 1 HV Solar panel. I find the MV solar panel to be the most useful, in combination with some MFEs or an MFSU it will power most non-massfab IC2 factory setup. They will also happily power a Quarry or Filler using Energy Link or Electrical Engine. I use HV panels to power a Tesla coil based mob grinder, as well as the ever-greedy massfab. LV panels I don't find much use for, but they are good for powering the Forestry machines w/ electrical engines. -
Possibly you changed from Technic to Vanilla in the launcher, double check it?

Sure, but the fix is to turn off smooth lighting...

How do i become self sustaining? from the start...
Truculent replied to Shadelin_Night's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Re: Ho do i become self sustaining? from the start... If EE2 is enabled, the EE2 wiki has a reasonable getting started guide, but I'd make a Destruction Catalyst early on, and it's worth building Macerator/Electro Furnace at first to double your ores. I've wondered if a Forestry pumpkin farm is a worthwhile investment early on as they have a good EMC value, but you need to find pumpkin/melon seeds, so probably not. -
I'll take that as a no, then. Thanks.

Sure, I was being a silly with the 1/1000. The EMC value of my UUM factory is around 10.6M, so by the numbers it's ~5x the cost. However, you have to consider how much faster the divining rod + destruction catalyst allow you get rolling, compared to using an IC2 miner or quarry. It's not even comparable, dive down to diamond level with a destruction catalyst and it takes hardly no time at all to pull enough EMC to get going with EE2. Also consider a 17/5 flower would replace itself in ~30 minutes, my UUM factory would replace itself in ~12 hours. My opinion is that both are OP'd, but EE2 has a much more aggressive power curve. Yes, 1 recycler draws 1 EU/t, each overclocker is a 1.6x multiplier on power draw so with 10 it will draw 1.6^10=110x more EU. It will produce 1/(.7^10) = 35.4x as much scrap. To replace the 57 recyclers I have now it will then take two 10x overclocked recyclers (this produces excess scrap) drawing 220 EU/t whereas 57 not-overclocked recyclers draw 57 EU/t, for a difference of 163 EU/t. A better match would be a 10x and 9x overclocked recyler, producing ~60x the scrap of a single recycler, at a power draw of 178 EU/t or a difference of 121 EU/t. The extra cost of producing multiple recyclers is offset in less than 24 hours. -

Yes, 2 recycler with 10 overclocker upgrade should keep my massfab fed, at a cost of 163 EU/t more drain or around 16% loss in UUM generation. As the entire point of the UUM factory is to make materials out of nothing, just like EE2, I choose to minimize the EU cost and build more recyclers. -
Yes, exactly, which is why I'm asking if you sent them the $20 as I requested in exchange for providing the information you requested.

I thought I could provide some numbers, as I'm in the process of building the IC2 equivalent to EE2 matter generation: a UUM factory. It is planned to have 4 HV solars powering a mass fabricator with full scrap generation for max efficiency. 4 HV panels costs: 2048 solar panels, 256 LV transformers, 32 MV transformers, 4 HV transformers. And the scrap generator to feed the Mass Fabricator consists of 57 Recyclers, 57 Filters and 44 Block Breaker-powered cobblegen. Total cost for just these items is around: 22500 Iron 8000 Tin 14000 Copper 27000 Rubber 13000 Redstone 6200 Coal It's about 48000 UUM of material or 5300 diamonds. This is NOT even including the piping, sorting machines, wiring, energy storage, 1000's of glass/cobble, etc. Nor does it take into consideration all the EUs that go in to preparing these resources. Nor does it include the machine I built to automatically fabricate solar panels, which is a large and complex albeit not very costly construction. When complete this machine will produce on average 1 diamond (9 UUM) in 8 seconds, considering solar panel downtime. With EE2 I could build a machine that spits out 1 diamond every 8 seconds with probably 1/1000th of this resource expenditure.
