That looks a lot like the issue here. You might want to try the fixes listed in that thread. It doesn't look like your launcher ever managed to connect to the Technic website. Maybe it was down at that time? This forum doesn't support spoilers.

Use BON's "deobfuscate mod" option to get it to MCP names and then add it as a library.

Minecraft now runs on Source and is not written in Java. Much of Minecraft modding relies on the fact that it is quite simple to decompile, change and replace a Java class. Anything of that sort would be impossible with a C/C++ program, so there are no mods for Minecraft. Goodbye Tekkit, FTB, Forge, Bukkit, Canary, and everything else. I wish Minecraft Forge allowed string list config properties with non-empty defaults.

I replicated this using out-of-the-box Tekkit Classic, the latest version.

I'd say stick to the server jar included in Tekkit unless absolutely necessary.

NEI server side in Tekkit Classic doesn't add much functionality and doesn't do permission checking when giving items. If I remember correctly, NEI client side can function as a GUI for /give without anything special on the server, so you're probably best off deleting NEI from the server.

I think this should run on 1.6.x apart from having no textures. I worked around the no texture thing by representing the creative tab with blaze powder.

Are there sprites for this anywhere? It turns out Minecraft 1.6 assumes a creative tab is represented by a non-null icon.

It would be very hard to check if a contraption has space to turn somewhere, and would require special handling for almost every block, vanilla or modded. Torches, buttons, repeaters, chests, furnaces, comparators, cocoa beans, Thermal Expansion machines, Buildcraft engines, and thousands more blocks are different depending which direction they face, and would all need special handling.
