  1. Yeah, thats the guide I used. Did not work, for starters ppa:dlecan/openjdk does not exist, but ppa:dlecan/dlecan did, and that did work. And various stuff needed to be done with python for some reason in order to get the add-apt-repository command working which it did not do as standard. So that is the java I use and then we have the same version as far as I can tell? And when I say I didnt want to update over ssh, I was talking about upgrading ubuntu to the next release, not java. [Edit:] Same crasch after reinstall of java.
  2. In that case I'll rather just uninstall it and reinstall it. Problem is my server is standing 45 miles from me, and I need to upgrade my ubuntu, dont't want to do that over ssh. My current Ubuntu version does not have a java 7 package supported for 64 bit so I have to force it in there by hand, it is entirely possible something went wrong along the way but it has been working flawlessly for everything else, including vanilla minecraft, for several days. Is there a "recommended" version of java 7? It seems to have gone down the drain since Oracle took over, several version of Java 7 to choose from, no Idea what the merits are of the different ones, like Open JDK 7, Jre 7, etc etc etc.

  4. I think the mod authors should consider something else than Paypal. I consider Paypal evil and I will NEVER support Paypal in any way, but I will happily donate via some other channel. Because they have done a marvelous work with all the mods, and the technic team as well, not to forget, Cheers!
  5. If you have Ubuntu OpenJDK 7 can be very hard to install, but it is possible, managed to get it in eventually using a custom PPA someone set up. Anyway, after you have gotten OpenJDK7 working you can still get a similar error, I did. The problem was with permissions in Linux, if you copy in files to your minecraft directory while in sudo and then run the server some of the files might be denied access. Make sure you are not in sudo when copying them to the folder and that usually fixes it. Just a tip.
  6. Re: Bugs found in Tekkit 2.0 I can't get builders from buildcraft to build anything. They put up the frame but then just sits there doing nothing. Can someone confirm this?

    64x64 Quarry

Players using really large quarries on my server without problem, I think they are 64*64, if the frame is starting to build it shouldnt be a problem. Try using another powersource, maybe, hmm.. lava -> Geothermal mk2 -> energy link -> quarry ?
  8. Re: Bugs found in Tekkit 2.0 A player on my server reports problem with the cannon but I have yet to verify it.
  9. Re: Bugs found in Tekkit 2.0 Armour test. I did a test with different armours (hard difficulty). I let a zombie do one punch at me with different armours, brand new or fully charged in the case of nano and quantum. Result: No armour: 3 hearts damage Leather armour 2 hearts damage Chain armour 2,5 hearts damage Iron armour 2 hearts damage Gold armour 2 hearts damage Diamond armour 2 hearts damage Bronze armour 2 hearts damage Dark Matter armour 2 hearts damage Red Matter armour 2 hearts damage Gemmed armour 2 hearts damage Nano armour 0 hearts damage Quantum armour 0 hearts damage I think the result speaks for itself, the armours are bugged, except maybe for Nano and quantum which seems to work as intended, taking damage on energy instead. [Edit:] Tested gemmed armour as well.
  10. Re: Bugs found in Tekkit 2.0 I play with all of the fixes found so far except for Wireless redstone which is disabled, as well as crafting table 2 which is also disabled. Concerning the doubleslab blocks, giving oneself blocks with the cheatmode works for one block, the double stoneslab. Givning oneself the other type of doubleslab blocks gives you the double stoneslab type. Also, as someone else pointed out, all doubleslabs are impossible to build by stacking regular slabs on top of each other. I also was unable to build a thermopile, I would guess that it is because the copper is of another type than in the recipe. I can confirm the problems with the jetpack as well. Oddities with eqvivalent exchange but since this is the first time I have played with EE maybe I should let someone else check this out, but anyway. I managed to get -1 in EMC on the left side in the transmutation table while shiftclicking to move items, shiftclicking also seems to get them stuck on mousepointer instead, but not always, just a tad random. Full Dark Matter armour seems weak, should I be almost two hitted by endermen? (Hard difficulty). Tested against a zombie, No armour took 3 hearts, Full dark matter armour took 2 hearts per hit. Items not recognised by the transmutation table are destroyed outright, is this by design?
  11. Re: Bugs found in Tekkit 2.0 Unable to place double stoneslabs. Not sure if this is a bug or if it is locked by one of the admintools as standard, but when trying to place a stoneslab on top of another, and thereby building a double stoneslab, it pops back into the inventory right after. Concerning craschbug in Linux some people here are reporting, I had the same thing but found the reason for it in my case. Do not unzip the files in windows and then send them over to the linux server. Send over the zipped file and unzip it directly on the server instead. It was stupid of me to forget this. I never bothered finding out exactly why this is but just assume windows does something funky with the end of line characters and whitespaces in the textfiles somewhere along the way.
