It's funny because when you say open source, it looks like anyone can access it, and you are putting your information on it XD
Not terribly funny. Not even close to what open source means. I should hope people don't think that.
-
Yes, it is a scam. You see, due to the way the launcher automates installation you have to enter your Minecraft account into it, so that it can check for updates and such.
You see, this must mean that the Technic crew is secretly working with Mojang in an attempt to force people to buy accounts! It's the most devious scam I've ever seen!
We're on the take! And we're selling your gold on ebay!
Yeah no. A legitimate concern, but don't worry about the launcher. Shit's all open source. Completely safe.

I did tell him he shouldn't push his luck right? I'm quite sure I did.

So wait, other people are coming in and mudding the waters. To the OP. Are you changing it False to "true" in the NEI config while minecraft and the launcher is closed and it is literally reverting back to "false" when you look at it? Or are you changing it to "true" and it's just not working in game? I'll try and help if I can.
It could be that you're forgetting to enable it in game as well as out of game. Once you enable it in the config you need to open your inventory in game and go to the NEI options. Then set cheat mode to enabled. Otherwise it will appear as if nothing changed.
If you are doing that, and your config is literally just changing back to "false" and not saving, then it could be a problem with permissions. It sounds exactly like the problem of trying to edit the config while the game is open but you said that's not the case. Perhaps the config is only opening in a "read only" mode that you can't edit? I don't know how to help you with your computers permissions since it's not anything to do with technic, so you might try looking around online. I think I even saw someone explaining it on these forums somewhere so try the forums search feature.

Its a good thing you guys do such great work, it makes putting up with the fact yer mostly a bunch of asshat prima donnas that much easier. : ]
I will pick out the green M&M's for you any day of the week!
*edit* I shit you not it had dumped stuff in there, it had a mods folder and some red power stuff and config files. I thought there was no freakin way it could write to that folder either, but that has been an unmodded and clean .minecraft since over 2 months ago. It was still in my recycle bin here is the contents:
folders= bin/buildcraft/config/mods/redpower/resources/saves/texturepacks
Files=airship.properties/options.txt/wirelessRedstone.properties
Man, it's a great thing that you don't do such great work and contribute nothing at all to technic or anything related! It means if I don't want to, I don't have to put up with you at all! Glad you got it working or whatever. See you!

Perhaps you need to read my first post and then skip over the others and read this last post.
I had a 64 bit Java installed when I first had problems after downloading and using the 0.2 launcher.
Ok. I'll go check your first post. Oh hey look at that. You never said that. You said nothing at all about 64 bit java at any point. My word! Perhaps, and I know this is crazy, but perhaps you just need to learn how to communicate better? Or is me saying that a "nonfeasance"? I don't understand your big city lawyer talk sometimes!
Edit: as an added note. The launcher install is completely 100% separate from the regular minecraft client install. You must have done something crazy because under no circumstances should any files from the launcher install have anything to do with the .minecraft folder. There is no cross over, at all.

Have you seen Cheap Shot in a troll-ish mood?
A small collection, since admittedly a lot are in Locked thread that deserved a good troll:
haha that last one was great.

IC2 seems pretty balanced. The only thing they need to change is so recyclers don't award scrap for cobble.
That's my favorite part.

Seems that full describing of user actions and their results is mandatory, as long as nobody reads it
I tried to launch the .jar and told about what happened in my first post. It shows "Loading" screen for a split second and does nothing more. The only difference for .exe is that it checks the launcher version first. And no logs are written.
Interesting. Sorry I just popped in and didn't see your previous post. My bad. If you're not even getting to the point with logs, it tells me that there might be something wrong with your computers settings which is preventing the launcher from even getting going. Try two things for me in this order. First, check if your OS is 64 bit, and then check if your version of java matches your OS. "64 bit or 32 bit". If they don't, update java. If they do, delete your .techniclauncher file and the .exe and redownload. If that doesn't work, delete it again and try downloading the mac version and running that (it's just the jar. Want to check)
If that all fails, come back and start a new thread with all your info in it and that I said to start it, and we'll help you further.
-
... You're kidding me.
"If you have a 64 bit OS, check to make sure you're using 64 bit java" was like the first thing we trouble shooted. It's been stickied all over these forums since they opened. Your failure to look around before starting this giant drama show is astounding.
Also stop using the word nonfeasance. It's a legal term, and you don't actually seem to understand its proper usage.
-
Sorry, but I wrote in the very first message that there aren't any logs, the only file in the .techniclauncher folder is the .jar itself.
You may be having a common problem. The solution is posted in several places, but just go ahead and run that .jar and tell us what happens. See if it works for you. If it does, just make a shortcut to the jar and use that instead of the .exe.
is there actually an installer for 1.1 or just this retarded launcher thats completly seperate from minecraft
You say that like being separate from minecraft is a bad thing?
-
I was literally just about to post about that. Is there any plan to get it to check for launcher updates when the .JAR is run?
We have plans for an app version yeah.

Might I direct your attention to the aside I wrote in which I stated: In this instance I am using the word customer to refer to the people who utilize the service (The Technic Launcher) which has been provided by the people affiliated with this site.
Yes that's great, but customer is still not the proper word, because technic is not a service. You are free to use it if you please, or you can go download all the mods and install them while fixing conflicts AND bridging them so they work well together without overlap like multiple versions of the same ore. Go ahead man. I mean if you have trouble installing technic with the launcher, I'd hate to watch you try doing it manually.
The launcher doesn't need installation documentation because we've literally made it 1 step. You press a button. This works for the vast vast majority of people. I am not making some joke when I tell you the number of people who have problems with the launcher is MUCH MUCH less then the number who couldn't get the old installer to work. The small percentage of people who either have poor aim and miss the button, or somehow do something wrong and it doesn't work, or have weird computers that cause it to not install properly, well, they come here, to these boards, and ask for help, and get trouble shooted responses buy us. We don't provide some crappy troubleshooting guide because that would be both a lot of work, get out of date quite fast, AND we are already offering even better support. Personal one on one help from an actual human. There is nothing forcing us to do this, but we pay out of our own pockets for a huge beefed up expensive server to host these forums and provide support for the launcher we share for free. Just cause!
So. Instead of taking advantage of that, you've instead decided to use these forums to tell us that you're one of the few people who have trouble with a one button install and couldn't solve the problem on your own. Regardless of whatever computer nerd friends or personal experience you saw fit to tell us about for some reason. And instead of asking for assistance, which is what these forums are primarily for, you've decided to tell us our launcher is shit, and you think we should do more then twice as much work constantly so that you and a few other people can have the old install method back?
No, get bent.

Minecraft.net is or was down. Nothing to do with us.
-
If you are using the .jar version of the launcher instead of the .exe you will need to redownload to get the offline fix. Don't delete any of your files, (But backing up is always a good idea) just run the new .jar. And yes Minecrafts servers are down, nothing to do with us.

I got the same problem. My Pc is definitly good enough for it but it laags now realy. Even if i sleep, the speed is around 5 times faster but in the beginning it was 40 times faster.
I think that too many machines can cause this laags, so i count then:
I got 26 solar cells, one massfabricator, one extractor, two macerator, one compressor, three batboxes, one mfe unit, a automated treefarm with two electick engine(Only working at daytimes, 5 solar cell don't fill the batbox), a beehive(just don't know the right name) and a alchemical chest with talisman of repair in it. also i got 6 horses and one turtle.
I don't know if these things help, but this bug exist so i would be happy if someone help.
In a sub menu of video settings is an option called "Load Far". Try turning that on and see if it helps. It will load chunks for you in a farther area, to cut down on lag while turning around and moving in an area.

TV's on their stomachs man! We aren't even close to their technological level. They've got bio-mechanical engineering years ahead of us.
Also, their sun is a baby.

Woah. Not wanting to buy the game is multiple reasons now?! My how the times, they change.

I love the Technic Pack and I think the Technic Launcher is a great idea. Sadly it does not work with my computer and/or account. I also prefer the old version of the installer better for multiple reasons. May you please continue making the old version as well as the new launcher.I believe many other users of the technic pack would support me and if I am correct you already have a template for the old installer so hopefully it is not too much of a hassle to add both versions of the installer for each update. I think you Technic launcher idea is great but I prefer the old installer so may you please continue both.
Thank you,
Uber_Gamer
Dear Uber_Gamer!!!
Glad you love the launcher bro! Sorry about your cat!!!! :(:(:(

lol he used dumb words
nonfeasance? wtf is that u no what im sayin?
His Launcher is failing to preform acts required by law obviously! Duh! Someone's going to be liable here!!!!!
-
Ok buddy. Your topics title was "Launcher Fail" not "Launcher Failure". You really don't want to push your luck on these forums. I didn't even punish you, now I will. Thanks for the sass, see where it gets you.

wow feel a little stupid i didnt see that, but yea that worked for the most part, i selected 4gb but its only using 3, no big deal still a major improvement
It doesn't set RAM usage as a min number, it sets it as a MAX number. Ideally it should never use anywhere close to your max of 4. In some cases setting more ram can be a bad thing, because the game wont garbage collect properly since it has more room to let shit build up. Then you eventually crap out because it finally hits the cap and tries to dump all at once. That's why you sometimes hear people saying they get better performance when they allocate less memory. MC is very much a game where you have to play around with the settings and see what works for you. It's different for everyone.
-
If that was the case EVERYONE would be bitching about technic pack making games lag.
Well uh. No. Some peoples computers are more powerful then other peoples. That is the case.
Something you can try: While playing, hit escape and go to Options -> video settings -> Other... -> and click the button that says "Load Far" so that it says "Yes".
This makes it so that the game loads a larger amount of chunks around you so that you get less visual lag when turning around and moving. Improved my framerate a lot.
Unfortunately, Millenaire is a beast. Most of the lag people get is from loading new chunks near a fresh village, or working and moving around near one in progress.
technic pack 5.0.5?

No I got you. That's what I was saying, that I hope people don't actually get the impression it means that.
