  1. There's also the fact that none of those are capable of compressing multiple diamonds so tightly together that they fuse into one perfect cube going by their shape alone, and I sincerely doubt anything is. But on the other hand, he is Steve, and according to some odd math I heard, if he were to carry a full inventory of gold blocks he'd be carrying thousands of tons of gold with not a drop of sweat on his brow. He'd also be carrying (64*9*4) 2304 cubic meters of it, easily accessible from somewhere on his person, despite clearly not being any larger than 2 cubic meters at any point. Structural integrity, raw physical strength, and outright physics-defying ability of that scale makes me wonder how any of the mobs are the slightest threat to him without also being able to blow holes through anything with a half-hearted punch. The creepers can do it, but they do so by exploding and can't even break obsidian, which, if the mobs were realistically a threat to someone as incredibly powerful as Steve, would be an easy feat. They could probably break bedrock, though I couldn't really say for sure seeing as it appears to be a fictional material that's just called bedrock; the actual bedrock by real-world standards would be any average stone block, the ores in it, and so on. In short, the logic of Minecraft is botched at every single turn. Good thing it's extremely fun.
  2. I question how you could genuinely make a flower from diamond, or even a flower-shaped structure, given the properties of diamond. Then again, I'd question how one would make a perfect one-meter cube from diamond, and seemingly with no tools to properly merge the nine individual diamonds that make it up to boot. I also question how a single cubic meter of wooden log can be made into four cubic meters of wooden planks, despite logically being the same material at the same density, just with the bark removed and arranged into planks. And countless other things about Minecraft and most any given mod or pack thereof for it.
  3. That's horrible advice to give someone with a tendency to love social masochism, (Like me.) but okay.
  4. You could also level the village and kill all of the villagers. Their entire faction (Indian, Norman, Mayan, etc. One of those.) will hate your guts, but you'll have room to get started then.
  5. I'm just saying you could improve upon it. That small amount of sugar cane, even automatically collected, won't do you much good. Add multiple layers, move the water back behind the sugar cane and make it into a straight trench and make the sugar cane into a solid row instead of one on every other block, and so on. You don't even need the golden pipes in it.
  6. It's not a virus. It's a .rar with three pictures of a sugar cane farm. It's also a small and horribly inefficient one, but I suppose everyone has to start somewhere.
  7. There's also the extreme distance that tin can travel to a BatBox with absolutely no loss, equal to the glass fiber cable without expending massive amounts of diamond. You could have a non-stop 32 EU/t for every moment of sunlight. You could probably have 32 EU/t all night as well, by filling up enough of the reserve with excess to be used through the night. Then you could use multiple BatBoxes, run their output into the higher-tier storage units, and have non-stop MV or HV, or even run multiple of those HV outputs into an inverted HV transformer and have EV. And a mess of solar panels sitting around somewhere making building an actual structure in the area impossible, and on top of that, a massive headache trying to work around the loss system to get it to travel far enough to even reach your base from the central collection point somewhere in the middle of the aforementioned mess with as little loss as possible, most likely.
  8. I don't know a whole lot about this sort of stuff, but I'd say back up your .jar and saves and so on, then try it and see. I'd also think this could also be rather easily done by making the game run an "else if" check after looking for blocks designated "solid" that makes it check for the specific water block ID. How that would be done with the properties of Java and the game's own setup and so on, I honestly wouldn't know, though.
  9. That's what they're doing, it seems. But I'd imagine they're not happy with the speed of the trap. 10 minutes is a long time, after all. And seeing as Jay? said there was no visible degradation I'm assuming to actually kill anyone in quantum armor, given that it makes the player wearing it immune to all (or most forms of) damage, they'd be taking up a valuable, resource-expensive trap for hours and granting him no loot. In that time many others could intrude upon his base and even fall into the same trap, causing a large backflow of players waiting to get out and actually play on the server, (The trap is said to be inescapable, just not very lethal.) or possibly glitching up the trap.
  10. Ah, well that makes it a lot easier then. Though actually, gem armor allows flight as well. And if the rending gale is usable, I'd imagine that is too, which means you should put a cap over their heads. It also means it will take forever to kill anyone using it, gem armor being the most ridiculously overpowered armor to ever exist in any Minecraft mod short of "This armor is made of dirt and makes you invincible!" varieties. And there's the possibility of them using the two regenerative stones or their combined form. With those two combined, you'd have to utilize ridiculous and possibly even impossible DPS so they couldn't possibly heal quickly enough, or wait until they run out of EMC. And they could have multiple fully charged KSOs, so you might want to install a window and see if you can have a nice chat with them while your mega-weapons are making them itch a little. Behind meter-thick reinforced glass at the least, of course.
  11. ... Oh, wait. There are even ads here in the first place? I thought he was talking about adf.ly. Well, I don't normally do this but I'm going to disable ABP for this site. Seems like the Technic team has enough hosting troubles as it is and according to the description of them they might be odd at times, but not intrusive. ETA: They're still not there? Or am I stupid for some reason?
  12. Or, obsidian. If it can be placed and destroyed by RedPower things instantly, it would be extremely useful due to being, save for bedrock, the thing in the game with both the most blast resistance and resistance to mining in both vanilla and the entirety of the Technic pack's mods save for EE. (Which I'd assume isn't used on the server due to quantum armor being the big worry with the trap instead of the legendarily overpowered gem armor and the many other god-tier items it offers.) Also, I just remembered: A tesla coil, with sufficiently massive amounts of energy stored in it, (Almost as full as it can possibly be.) can all but drain quantum armor dry straight from "full" according to what I hear. It would make it much quicker and therefore far more lethal simply because of the much lower time it would grant to anyone to escape. Depending upon how pistons handle EU (If the data value for a device's EU is stored when being moved.) you might be able to shuffle many of them around from recharging stations back to their firing slot with each shot, making them able to handle a constant stream of intruders falling into the death hole as a unit.
  13. Lonely, pubescent male gamers. Sounds about right given the audience they're trying to cater to in terms of people directed from most any MC site save for this one. :P
  14. Understandable, Kaker. It's a shame, how many of those "competitors" have turned out, really. Even more so because this "community cancer" could be easily corrected in short order and likely with few simple countermeasures. It's not like, say, the infamous "cancer that is* killing ..." where there was a massive and sudden inflow of unwanted content and generators of unwanted content, on top of very little staff throughout the largest and most famous affected area and all of the affected areas in general to deal with the problem and no (major) "social chain" -- which would allow major players to have massive sway -- to speak of due to the nature of the entire community. The problem here is very easily dealt with, throughout the greater community, with as little as the will to do so at some higher levels of the "pecking order" at the start. Just that much could easily snowball. *Was? I haven't been keeping up with that part of the internet for a great, great while. I know the Anonymous of infamy -- hackers on steroids and such, not just any random anonymous poster of the designated areas -- is still around, but where I couldn't easily guess. Not that it's relevant here except as a comparison.
  15. He who fights monsters should take care that he not become one, it's said. I've gotten bitter when exposed consistently to things I dislike, but I'd like to think I've yet to become a metaphorical monster and hopefully never will. Well, that's probably more because of the "tumblr" part of the equation. Regardless, /) ?
  16. Eesh. Some of these super-powered armors make deadly traps difficult. Hmmm. What if there were a smothering block set, another set of blocks two or more empty spaces above those, and player detectors set to make the smothering blocks retract if they were to try to jump out? Then they'd jump up, hit the higher blocks, activate the detectors, fall back, and be smothering while bombarded with whatever you choose to be shooting at them again when the pistons push back into place. They would've gone nowhere and only delayed the (hopefully) inevitable.
  17. If a player is noticed as "smothering" by the game, does that make them able to clip through any block or are they locked into the blocks they're currently in unless there are nearby "open" (Air, water, oil, lava, any "gas" [which is only air so far as I know.] or "liquid" block in general.) blocks for them to get into? If it's the latter, just put two or more layers of blocks over their head and they'll hit their head on those just above the ones smothering them if they try to jump out, even with the quantum armor's ridiculous jump height. I'd suggest as much of the "more" option as possible if applicable, just to give them more to break through and make it less likely for escape to happen.
  18. Oops. Looks like I'm guilty to some extent if that's the case. Apologies, I'm more accustomed to looser standards that include a lot more room within the range generally accepted as "If you're not annoying about it..." And I'm generally more jesting about it than most, I suppose. You're all rather strict around here, honestly. (Note that that's an observation rather than a complaint. And please don't bash my face in too badly.)
  19. Re: $20 to help me make a tiny IC2 addon That title's misleading. People may think you want people to pay you, not the other way around, just looking at it. Also, while I'm sure money is great, there are kind(ish) folk around here who would probably help you out in that respect for free. There are free tutorials all over that would show you how to add a furnace recipe, a crafting table recipe, and an item for sure, though adding things to IC2 machines would probably take some guesswork going from what you could learn in those.
  20. Not on all servers. Some have no such command, or only allow the /killme command which drops their loot anyway. But if you're working on a specific server where that's true, that's a problem indeed. You may be able to make it so rapid that they're dead before the wait time could possibly be up unless they activated it before even activating the trap, but of course incorporating a piston shuffler to keep them moving around and unable to teleport or break blocks will make it much easier in terms of time limits.
  21. That may be true, actually. I'm not extremely big on semantics, though. But in the context of Minecraft, I'd want to kill someone in my "oubliette." Rather quickly, as well. And in general, if someone's to be locked up until they're forgotten and likely dead anyway, I for one would like to be slightly merciful as well as practical (They could escape.) and just fill the room with some dangerous something-or-other and kill them before they start the many times more agonizing process of dehydrating and starving and such. Though, if I kept actual prison rooms or automated kill rooms and actually had to use them at some points in the real world in any sense I'd likely question where I went wrong and had to make such a decision. ETA: As for your idea, Jay?, perhaps pushing a tougher block onto their head with a piston? That probably bypasses armor completely as well. Also note that the blowdart poison can't actually kill, and the shot itself is extremely weak in comparison to many other things.
  22. If it can be escaped or survived for very long, it's not an oubliette by my standards. "When in doubt, add lava and obsidian." It works very well even in vanilla. If you need something that moves via pistons, (A lava flow release, something to block off the way they came in, etc.) make it the strongest thing that the game will allow to move, because obsidian can't normally be moved by pistons. RedPower rubberwood might be a basic option, due to being fireproof and defined as "wood" in terms of what breaks it. Many people wouldn't expect to need a woodcutting tool in a heavily fortified, industrialized base. There's also a trick that makes it impossible or all but impossible for an intruder to break any blocks by shuffling them back and forth with pistons. You could push them up and sideways forever and rather safely (They wouldn't be able to break any blocks due to being shuffled around so fast.) with zipper elevators and zig-zagging piston formations as well, then do some piston-shuffling to fill the whole corridor with enough hazardous things that they couldn't possibly get out before they died. I'd suggest trying to find a good patch of bedrock that can't or can't very easily be escaped if they're dropped in, if possible. Also, the blowdart shot's poison might ignore armor and will certainly add DPS for a long time with just a single shot, making it potentially devastating. And if someone can somehow survive all of that in an obsidian casing that they probably couldn't break at all due to being moved around so much, being in lava, and so on, I'd say they deserve anything they want to steal from you, in honesty. Though you might be able to dispense dirt into their inventory as well as all through the trap with excess they couldn't possibly pick up to lag them and make them have to get rid of it all somehow.
  23. Ah yes, I remember when I was still in early grade school and likened the principal to an almighty and vaguely malevolent entity. ... Oh wait, they meant the other kind and just don't know how to spell, didn't they?
  24. There's also the problem of legality across borders and all such. Retroactive things like that wouldn't apply in the US, (I think. 99% sure, though. There's a country somewhere or other, though.) as an example. Which is where the majority of Minecraft players probably are. Mojang is based in a northern European country somewhere, I think? Some countries would outright deny the entire ToS.
  25. "First Minecraftia, then the world! Muwahahaha!" What goes on between the ears of some people? I'd be inclined to think people with such plots have nothing at all in the specified space, but then I hear the specifics and see that clearly it's very much there and very complex. Just not sane or logical at all. This "villainous plot" of FlowerChild's isn't even a good idea in terms of possibility for success. This would never work. It's also massive hypocrisy.
