    Combat laser

Might be better to call them combat/mining blasters, since they're not a laser at all, it shoots packets of energy. As for the velocity, I'm thinking that high velocity would be something like a musket shot, and low velocity would be like a thrown egg.

    Combat laser

Could we have an alternative to the mining laser which is configured for combat rather than mining? If any of you have tried to actually use the mining laser in combat, it's pretty difficult to do so without turning your landscape and surrounding structures into swiss cheese, and really only one mode is strong enough to be suitable for combat; Long Range Perhaps the combat laser could have 5 modes: -Light (high velocity, low damage) -Heavy (low velocity, high damage) -Scatter (medium velocity, multiple weak shots) -Disrupt (medium velocity, low damage, highly draining to nano and quantum armor) -Explosive (very low velocity, medium damage, high energy cost, doesn't break or mine blocks)
  3. I think that the rate at which you burn your "calories" should have an effect on how well you cope with different climates. Either end of the hot or cold should have increasingly difficult threshold, since the body is able to regulate its temperature. In the desert, if you stand still or get in lower light you'll be fine, but sprinting will overheat you quickly. In a cold biome, you need to stay active to maintain temperature, or get into a location that has no open air. Water in the desert should bring you into a comfortable level and have it stabilize. Water (below the ice) in a snow biome should be extremely dangerous and make temperature plummet. Having a status effect of being wet could act as a sort of multiplier on how much temperature you lose. The heat of the desert would dry you quickly, but would keep you cool meanwhile. The cold of a snow biome would keep you wet for longer, and greatly increase the rate at which you lose heat. (seriously, getting wet out in the cold is normally a death sentence) Wearing leather amour should help keep you the warmest in snow biomes, and to a lesser extent, so would the other armors.
  4. Despite all the drama with FlowerChild and SirSengir, It would be a nice addition to technic and tekkit to have at the very least a BTW "inspired" mod that implements mechanical energy as a sort of overworld tech that doesn't require one to mine extensively, using mostly wood as a construction material. I know this is minecraft, but it would be nice to have the option for a rewarding "rustic" experience once in a while, and not always be cooped up in a mine, or ravaging the landscape with quarrys everywhere.
  5. I don't know what the point of all this "living hell" and "TekkitZ" shit is, but I would enjoy an advanced survival game mode that has the additional things to be aware of. While it might seem tedious to some, being as it would be optional, it would make surviving more of a challenge than it is currently for those who desire it. I can think of a lot of ideas concerning this type of thing, and have wanted to make such a mod, I just don't know where to get started, and if it would ever see much use.
  6. What if the float blocks could be used in a recipe to convert minecarts into a boat/cart hybrid? The carts could be moved by water currents, maybe even over lava in the nether, and then be moved more precisely by tracks.
  7. ...Of every single god damned piece of %@#& cord-powered appliance having a CLOCK on it? Not only a clock, but a clock that holds you hostage from actually using the thing. And the manufacturers cant be bothered to put a short-term capacitor/mosfet power loss memory storage so it doesn't delete the time off all 50 devices in the son of a bitching house because the power went off for 5 seconds? All i want to do is cook a bag of popcorn, not get out a user manual to figure out how the hell to punch in some random number so i can actually use the microwave for its intended purpose. 10th time the power has gone out today and we have to punch through all this BS to use an appliance. yes yes, 1st world problems and all that...
  8. So you need space age trans-dimentional technology to remove 60 block dirt columns without drowning to death. Anyhow, the concept of the buoys/float blocks is intended to have the same use as scaffolding; it makes construction easier, faster, and avoid ridiculous dirt towering 8 rubber in a square = 4 floatation blocks? -shrug- maybe can be colored with painters or something... The floats could maybe also have a dampening quality so boats are much less likely to break when bumping into them
  9. 2 main things, which should be easy enough: - buoys/floats, which would be blocks that can be placed on water and help support structures out on the water (You can use lilly pads to help create an ocean well I guess...) - larger boats which can carry chests or tanks, and can be driven or moved along with water currents. Is that doable? It could work a lot like the minecarts, only if you right click the boat instead of the storage, you'll operate it.
  10. Something I find missing are features based around building and transporting stuff on and across oceans. Boats are very fragile, and only useful as cheap personal transports, but what if this was extended to allow players to create large sturdy ships that can carry out various roles? Cargo barges? Tankers? Oil platforms?
  11. Kmisfit's fix corrected the issue. I'm confused about Tad_Dekker's fix, I need to download 3.1.2 for the 5th time and ONLY extract the mods folder?
  12. I'm getting the following when I open the server batch file. 13. I figure if it was easy, it would have been done already. Well, if anyone desires the status of a god, you know what you must do, because this would become known to millions :P
  14. Does anyone with modding experience know if there is any conceivable way to make tracks that aren't limited by the current block by block basis? One of my biggest gripes with rails is that every time it turns, it just jerks you around and flips the view around. Not very appealing. Is there any practical way to create a system that allows for advanced rails that aren't restricted by the way they work now? Look at something like roller coaster tycoon, that game is based on a grid, yet has coaster tracks that can be comprised of all sorts of shapes that flow very smoothly. Players and carts are both entities, and I see no reason why some kind of smooth pathing system can't be done (zipline comes to mind on the curved bridges and such). I don't know how I'd do it myself, but maybe someone who actually knows the limits of minecraft could say for sure.
  15. What about using a snow golem, a block breaker, and a compressor?
  16. We allow EE, but we keep it the hell away from everything else. As you just pointed out, sooo many ways to use it that just turn it into easy-mode.
  17. Uranium used to be worth 6 diamonds, now it's worth half a diamond. I'm a little concerned about this, because while it does make it harder to acquire diamonds, it also makes it much easier to produce Uranium ore. At this point, the breeder reactor seems to have lost its usefulness. It's an expensive, risky, complex, and time consuming reactor to set up, and if ample fuel can be acquired with tier 1 collectors, I don't much see the point anymore. I'm leaning more towards not allowing it to transmute at all, or making the process of refining uranium a much more time consuming and complex process than shoving it in a compressor. Something that would require a whole operation to be set up, so regardless of how much uranium ore you have, you'd still need to process it. Not saying EE should be removed or anything, though normally me and my friends greatly limit our use of it, or kind of forbid any systems that combine tech and magic because of the various exploits.
  18. I wish there were a way to create wide-turning tracks. there would be complications of such a thing, mainly curves on a square world, but if someone managed to pull it off, it would be amazing. Think of something such as a track that needs to have a 1st and 2nd part laid down, and then the in-between part is generated in the form of an entity, perhaps? It would have to span several blocks, so it can't be a block.
  19. And it works... But you have to remove the philosophers stone, and place it back in each time. But that shouldn't be a problem for a sand trap. This could be hidden under ground, someone is walking on dirt... it activates... down they go, and no requirement to use pistons to cover a wide area, just up the charge on the stone (I only charged it once here).
  20. Hmm, can a deployer use a philosophers stone? You could have one turn dirt into sand so a person falls into a pit.
  21. Title: Red power lag Version: 3.0.3/3.0.4 OS: Windows 7 64bit Java Version: Java 6 Description of Problem: Certain red power systems lag immensely when 20 or more blocks away. For example, I made a filter that pulls cobblestone from a chest and places it in a recycler, and a filter that pulls scrap from the recycler and places it in a mass fabricator. Both are pulsed with a redstone tube connected to a timer and jacketed wire. When active, the above setup will lag the game to a near standstill if I go too far. Performance may improve if the chunk is unloaded, but I've yet to get far enough away for that to happen, it lags the game pretty severely, and basically tethers me to the general area until I shut down the whole thing. Error Messages: none Error Log: none
  22. The one facing the cow is a deployer with a bucket inside of it. Right behind the deployer is a filter with a milk bucket inside of it. To the right of that filter is another filter, which extracts empty buckets from the condenser. The condenser converts milk buckets into empty buckets, with a gain of 81 emc each time it does this.
  23. I'm wondering if there's a variable probabilty, because using a wrench on a mass fabricator always broke it, and I've wrenched tier 1 machines dozens of times and it never once broke.
  24. I'm wondering if there's a comprehensive list of the minimum tools required for uprooting certain devices. Solar panels have to be removed with a wrench, yet the clustered ones can be mined with a pick. Standard generators I think can be mined with a pick. Simple T1 machines seem to be able to be removed without any loss with a wrench. Advanced machines seem to require an electric wrench on lossless mode. Does this sum things up, or is there more to it? Is there luck involved?
  25. Wow, never even heard of them... Are those going to be added to the technic pack at some point?
