The reason it didn't work was because AVG is known to cause issues when downloading anything through the Technic Launcher :P

You shouldn't use the dev builds, switch back to the latest recommended build and you'll (most likely) be fine The reason you shouldn't use dev builds is because they're only meant for bug-testing, nothing else

I believe that icon means your computer has a good connection to your router However, everything past the router itself can be unstable or ridiculously slow, meaning you can still have terrible connection to people

Your computer might not be able to handle running both the server and client at the same time. They're very heavy programs!
