    Add the Aether

    Can't someone just lock this thread already? This isn't even the right subforum for this kind of post.

    EMC Pipes

    How to fix that cheat? Don't include these 'repeaters' you speak of. I don't see what EMC pipe-related item could refresh any incoming EMC.

    EMC Pipes

    I don't understand... A condenser does exactly the same thing as EMC pipes connected to a Matter-EMC converter and an EMC-Matter converter. What difference is there between that little system and a Condenser? Also, I don't see what this cheat has to do with anything. Of course you could put the storage right next to a machine. But then what would be the point in it in the first place of having long-distance EMC transport? You'd just have exactly the same thing all over again.

    EMC Pipes

    Wait, WHAT? I'm pondering about how this would make EE 'even more overpowered'. Obviously you... 1. Have no idea what a condenser is, or.. 2. Didn't read my post properly, because I purposefully remembered to add a downside to long-distance alchemy.

    EMC Pipes

    Well, I really don't see how big a deal Thaumcraft has to do with it anyway... And the thing with piped diamonds is that firts you need the diamonds themselves. Look, there's just a whole ton of reason why piping pure EMC is better than piping items rich in EMC.

    EMC Pipes

    Yes, you're right, I am having a go at a bit of ThaumCraft into EE. And it doesn't really make sense to require other mods to implement a feature. Also, saying a Condenser is superior to EMC Pipes is in essence saying the same thing as a Chest is superior to Pnuematic Tubes. EMC Pipes can easily transport the EMC in raw form to another factory.

    EMC Pipes

    Okay, is everyone still talking about the same thing here? I'm hearing a lot about IC2 power, but I was thinking that maybe there could be a mod that enabled you to use EMC sort of like liquid Vis - like an EMC Tank, and maybe even a Vis/EMC converter, stuff like that.

    EMC Pipes

    ~~~ Guys, I heard that EE3 is planning to add 'wires' that will be able to transport EMC. Either this is such a good idea even the developer of the mod came to the same conclusion for his complete overhaul, or some higher power has seen our idea! Either way, this is looking good for us! ~~~ Just what it sounds like. Could someone please make a mod that allows you to make EMC pipes that allow you to transport EMC from one machine that breaks stuff down into EMC and then into another that condenses (/condences? I dunno...) the EMC into items? Maybe there could be some minor loss of EMC every few blocks the EMC is transported or something, too. EDIT; Ideas Coming Together Well, this idea has been thought out quite a bit more recently with me and my 'team' of LazDude2012 and vernes, and a lot of people are getting a bit confused when they came onto this thread, so I thought I'd clear up what we'd discussed so far. First off, we'd either need two new utilities that perform half the functions of the Energy Condenser or some changes to already-existing utilities that can already perform tasks similar to these, which are; Turning matter into raw EMC, which was discussed to be a sort of fifth-state half-energy half-plasma sort of liquid stuff. And it's glowing cyan. Aaaaaaaaaaaaw yeeeeeeeah. Turning raw EMC back into the matter of your choice. I've decided to name these utilities something like the Decomposer and the Alchemo-Synthesiser repsectively. Now, the main new block/item we'd need would be the pipes/cables themselves, which I've decided to call something like the Energy Cage, for reasons which will become clear later. We've decided that something expensive but not too much, so Gold seemed like a good choice for two reasons; It's rare but not too much so, like I said before. In Minecraft it's seen to be highly conductive of magic in some way, as seen in the fact that golden items are able to hold very powerful enchantments inside them. No complete crafting recipe has been thought up so far, however. Also, a whole new element of it has been devised which has been basically named the Stabiliser Field Emitter, which was put together from two basically separate ideas of a Stabiliser and a Containment Field and Containment Field Emitter. The Stabilisation Field Emitter, or more easily named SFE, would both stabilise the EMC in order for it to be transported again without being assimilated into the atmosphere and generate a containment field that would be conducted around the Energy Cages. It would act as a sort of half-torch half-repeater, as it allows the EMC to pass through the Energy Cages without just evaporating. Usually, Energy Cages would just chew up the EMC to a near-unusable lever when passing through them. However, more powerful fields could be generated by the SFE when it is input with IndustrialCraft or BuildCraft energy, ThaumCraft liquid vis or RedPower blutricity that greatly decreases the EMC loss through the Energy Cages. So basically, in short; Decomposer breaks down items into EMC. Energy Cages are charged with a containment field with the SFE. Energy Cages are able to transport the EMC fron Decomposer through the SFE which stabilises the EMC in order for it to be put into the Alchemo-Synthesiser, however at a loss of EMC at each couple of blocks. Alchemo-Synthesiser turns EMC back into whatever item you want. And of course, blutricity, electricity/energy, or liquid vis could be put into the SFE to increase the effectiveness of the containment field and thus decrease the loss of EMC per couple of blocks. Is that easy enough to understand? Sorry, I know I didn't put it very well. Just tell me if you'd like me to fix it a bit to make it more understandable.
    BoxGod - RTS Mod
    Okay guys, I admit it needs a little work. The wiki itself is still being worked on and there are probably typos everywhere. However, I do have a plan overall and anyone who actually wants to work on this can get extra information if they need it - which, because of the early stages the dev wiki is in, they will.
    BoxGod - RTS Mod
    The point of the link is to the wiki itself, not the page. If anyone wants to know what I'm talking about, I reccomend they start reading from the Nomad page and expand from there.
    That's what the link is for. And if anyone was actually interested in helping me make this, then I'd give them more information.
    BoxGod - RTS Mod
    So let me get straight into the subject - could someone please help me with this? (By the way, the this is a link to the development wiki, in case anyone got confused) I'm planning on creating a mod that adds a layer of RTS gameplay into Minecraft that isn't neccessary but helps you do basically everything. You'll be able to craft buildings, create units, and take over civilisations, and I'm planning on having some complicated mechanics that uses people walking on roads and activating machines rather than electrical charges travelling along wires activating machines. Anyone willing to help?
  13. I still reckon there are major advantages to having some Terraria-style wires.
  14. Well, first off, thanks for being the first person to understand my post and thus not shoot it down from the air with a semi-automatic rifle. 1 and 2) Well, I didn't understand what you said completely, being a programmer but not that good at Java, but I mostly see what you mean. Well, I do if you're agreeing with me. 3) Well... As I said, I ain't no pro programmer, but I'm thinking - couldn't you just have a separate layer for all the Terraria wires so they can go through blocks and stuff, just like they do in Terraria? Then you could give all the appropriate utilities and machines access to this layer to check whether wires are touching them in this layer... Right? 4) Dumb? You callin' Boulders DUMB? I'm hopin' that was a typo, buddy XD 5) Well, I didn't say that these things had to be in the mod, and as long as they're already there I'm not bothered.
  15. 1) Yes, but Lava is slow, and Sand/Gravel are generally only going to do half a heart of damage. The point in the Boulder is that you place it on a platform of Active/Inactive blocks, and when someone presses the pressure plate the boulder falls on them and does some decent damage. You just can't get that from Sand/Gravle or Lava. 2) Yeah - out of all the things that could be included in this mod, the invisible wires would be the one thing I would keep. So far, even with Technic, players who see traps are immediately either going to grief them to hell (possibly for the heck of griefing or maybe even to harvest all of these semi-rare wires - which is also the reason I'm wanting a Wirecutter that is required to harvest the wires) or dodge them completely. Everyone knows that this is annoying, sucks, is suckily annoying and annoyingly sucky, and I just don't see why invisible wires hadn't been thought of before. 3) That's the point - more than one person can fall into the trap, and the Dart Trap won't lose any arrows. 4) Yeah, but they do look cool. And plus, when have we been able to get item and lightning spawn eggs?
  16. 1) I didn't mean everything - I mean new blocks, called Active/Inactive Blocks that deactivate/activate when the charge it's recieving is inverted (turned on/off). I mean exactly how it works in Terraria. 2) Whatever, I guess that's a valid argument. Either way though, something like this should make its way into Technic. 3) Yeah, exactly. 4) But what I'm talking about here is a specific Boulder block, not adding anything new to existing blocks, that does lots of damage and obeys gravity, making it a useful item specifically for trap-making.
  17. What I'd like to see anytime soon in Technic would be a Terraria wiring mod. I don't have any particular mod to reccomend but I reckon my experience in Technic would be a lot better if a mod was included in Technic with at least the following elements from the technical side of Terraria were included; Wires that could be... Suspended in midair Invisible to players who aren't holding technical items (including Terraria wires, Redstone, machines, and technical stuff from the other mods) Found in dungeon chests Only harvested with a Wirecutter tool that is found in dungeon chests Walked right through Compatible with Redstone via both input and output Blocks that would become transparent and able to be walked through when powered with Redstone or Terraria wires Dart Traps that... Fire arrows when powered by Redstone or Terraria wires Hold infinite arrows, except the arrows they fire do not stick in the ground and instead disappear on collision Statues resembling certain entities (such as mobs or lightning) that act as spawners but only run whilst being powered by Redstone or Terraria wires Useful Pressure Plates that are much harder to see (i.e. smaller, thinner) and can be dyed so that they can hide on almost any block Traps spawning in underground caverns that contain Dart Traps, Pressure Plates and Wires Timers that put out a signal a specified amount of time after a signal is recieved Boulders that obey gravity, can be crafted out of six Cobblestone in the shape of either a Door or a Platform, and do a lot of damage I think these things would fit very well into Technic, and would be very glad if a mod could be found with these things included and implemented into Technic (and possibly Tekkit). UPDATE (19 / 09 / 2012) I was reading the Wire page on the TerrariaOnline wiki yesterday and noticed something I hadn't noticed before - Explosives. Explosives are explosives (obviously) that can only be activated via electric signal. Now, as far as I know, Technic currently doesn't have an electrical-only explosive, so I thought Explosives from Terraria would be a good addition to this mod. Shapelessly crafted from three TNT and some Redstone Dust, Explosives would appear like TNT but without the wrapping that reads TNT around it. It would also have some Redstone Dust on the top instead of the usual black string. It could be activated via Terraria wires or Redstone signal.
  18. Am wondering how I ever came to be on these forums in the first place.
