    Ok so problem here...

    Uninstall all instances of java. reinstall just java 7. You might need to delete the .techniclauncher folder as well and do a full reinstall.

    These are the instructions on pointing it to the right place. It's possible you could have installed a 32bit java onto a 64 bit OS.

    64 bit will default to c:\program files. 32 bit will default to c:\program files x86

    steps to change your path variable.

    Or hell, if you have a paypal account just buy the damn game for him regardless of what they say and if they ask just tell them you figured out how to get it working for him ;D

    Trust me if I had the money I would get it for him, I believe no matter what the age that everyone should play Minecraft. I use it to teach people with learning disabilities. Without this tool they would be lost.

    I just assumed that since they did let him play, but aren't letting him buy it that they have some personal reason for not wanting it purchased, in which case they would not want him to buy it for his brother either. If they don't care then yeah, just buy it for him then he can slip you the money for it on the side :P

    What sucks is he said they will not allow his brother to pay for it himself, which sounds like he already has the money and the parents just arent letting him buy it.

    Doesn't mean he cant buy it for his brother. Then his parents can't say no.

    It is against the forum rules to discuss illegal activities such as pirated software. You will find no help on this forum getting a cracked version of minecraft to run tekkit.

    You need to try harder to explain why he needs a legal version. Are they aware he is using a cracked version? You could tell them that not only is it a poor substitute for the full version because he can not use it to connect to your modded multiplayer server but it is actually illegal and you could theoretically get in trouble with the law for using it.

    As I do not promote or condone Piracy I do see his point. His parents, depending on HIS age, will not listen. Parents are stuck ion a frame of mind that they are right and their kids are wrong, no matter the topic. I dealt with it when I was a kid and I know most people have as well.

    Now the one thing you can tell your mother is that it is illegal for him to play without paying for the game int he first place and that youw ill not get in trouble just for him to play.

    There's a sticky called "common problems" that will help you with that issue.

    Last I checked it didn't mention the fact that if you install java 7 over java 6 you'll need to edit the environment variable PATH to point to java 7.

    Also, make sure you have the proper java for your OS. if you have a 64bit OS you need java 7 x64

    I have attempted this fix already, I have tried a lot it may just not work on this laptop I have. It works fine on my desktop though.

    Launcher/pack Version: Launcher v0.5.4.8 Technic v6, Yogbox v1.1.4, Tekkit v2.1.1/2.0, Vanilla 1.2.3

    Operating System: Win 7 64bit, 8GB Ram, i7 2.9 8 core

    Version of Java: Java 6 Update 31, JRE 1.7u3 Both 64bit

    Description of Problem: Ok so after a bit of research I realize that ALL of my vanilla sounds are not working. I have cleared the cache of all the packs and re-downloaded them, I have deleted everything all and re-downloaded everything and still no luck.

    Error Messages: None

    I had the same problem... minus the gf part :P Just use a name changing plugin like this one

    This works, sort of.... The last person to log in, lets say me, has all of the power. My gf has to be within ten blocks or so to me to be able to do things other than destroy. So as you can see it is not effective.

    Also t mobile likes to limit my internet for some reason, instead of getting my high speed I get all slow speed so I can't even use it to log in.

    Off Line mode - Closed lan, cant keep name :(

    I have the same issue, I can play at school with my gf but when I get home I cannot. I live out of town where the only internet offered is 60$ for 1.5 down. Thats through satellite. So I too have been trying to play at home but have had no luck. With no internet it should be possible to play offline. I have tried MiscAuthMode and it sort of works. But the last person to log in gets all the power. The other or others have to be within about ten block of thre last person to log on to do things other than destroy. This is very frustrating. Anyone have other ideas? Also I have tried searching for the solution but all I can come up with is solutions for the regular launcher. Not for tekkit.
