World Guard/Towny don't work to protect land???

Question

Posted

Well, I use World Guard and Towny to protect land on my server (found in the server list, Jondawg's Tekkit Server ;)) but since updating to Tekkit Version 1.1.4, users CAN place blocks in protected World Guard regions and towns which they do not belong to (while NOT being able to break them), I didn't change anything when I updated, and I and my admins have spent hours scouring our permissions.yml and config files for all plugins, while removing them one at a time to see if they conflict with world guard protection. We have not been able to come up with a solution yet, does anyone know any reason why this might not be working? I heard a rumor somewhere that it could be Buildcraft, this doesn't make much sense to me, seeing as how it's the same version from the previous version of Tekkit, but does anyone know? Is anyone having the same issue? (I know that modify world doesn't work with Tekkit, and we don't have it)

EDIT: One of my admins installed the Buildcraft bug fix patch thing, does anyone know if that causes issues like this?

On my server, we opted for the plugin "Regios" for area protection, as my admins and I have been using worldguard for a year or so now on our other servers and were kinda wanting to try something new. As far as we've noticed it has done it's job, it protects block placement and destruction, also seems to have easier control as far as flags go, and exceptions. If you haven't figured our your issue yet, i'd give it a try. We haven't had any problems with it at all.

Well, frankly I'm to used too World Edit/World Guard to give it up, and I don't think the problem lies within the plugin, as I've never had any issues with it before. I'm pretty sure the issue is with Tekkit, since all block placement seems to be messed up, anytime a block is placed, anywhere (including protected regions), including HawkEye logs (With /HE tool enabled!) they stay, regardless of player permissions. This is a TAD annoying. However, players still can't break blocks in protected regions, so if they do place a block, it is easy to catch them. Still, I would like to see this issue fixed.

This post is terrible and worse then useless. I wud like u to post bettar plz!

Yeah me too. At op, if you guys bothered to read the other posts In the bug section; there is someone having the same issue as you. I did explain in that thread None of the region protect plugins will work due to them not being designed for Tekkit. As the way the plugins work is they monitor block break events and place events and it cannot monitor things it doesn't know exist, the only way to combat this issue is to grab the source code (or make your own) and edit in the Tekkit id and events. as i can see with the terrible way you post that will not happen soon.

This was a bug in tekkit that is fixed when updating to 3.0.4

Block place event handling was not being shot out to plugins. That means all plugins running off of the event handler for the javaclass BlockPlaceEvent did not recieve data thus it was not protecting block placements...

I know this as i even made a test plugin to check for it on this one version of tekkit. I forget which one. But to fix it. You must update tekkit!
