How can i take off the "NotEnoughItems" mod in SinglePlayer and in Server.

Hello!,

I am having trouble taking off the NotEnoughItems mod. when i try to delete the files NEI is off but then when in game, i open my inventory and then i just disconnect from the server when in multiplayer or my Minecraft just closes when im in single player.

is There any way i could take off NEI for my Tekkit singleplayer and server?? so i can play it legit?? ;)

I'd recommend not turning it off completely and just running it in recipe mode.

for the server:

find the file modloader.cfg (in the config folder) and change the line mod_NotEnoughItems=on to mod_NotEnoughItems=off

for your single player:

when opening the launcher at the bottom is a button named "mod select" pressing this will open the modloader.cfg, do the same as above.

note: this will not remove NEI but switch it off.

Try Notepad++, it's free and opens far more files without any trouble than Notepad.

Hm, I still think it's a better idea to use it in recipe mode than not to use it.

In this case though, it isn't any easier to use notepad++ than it is to use regular old notepad.

Valkon is right, as usual, though. NEI is useful even outside of cheatmode.

I'm also wanting to remove NEI from my client and server, so that myself and others playing on the server cannot see/access the NEI item list on the right-hand side.

I've changed both modloader.cfg files for the server and client to mod_NotEnoughItems=off, but can still see and access the items in-game.

I've also changed NEIServer.cfg permissions with no effect.

I know that you can press 'o' or hide NEI from the option menu in-game, but ideally I'd like to remove/lock-down/hide the NEI panel from players logged into my Tekkit server.

Any help would be appreciated!

You know that you can edit the CFG to disable cheat mode, right? so that all you can get from it are recipes?

also, you could restrict item spawning to OPs, and stop cheating that way.

Thanks for the suggestion. Could you give an example of editing the NEIServer.cfg to disable cheat mode/only allow recipes?

EDIT: I found the NEI.cfg, and mine was set to lock_recipe_mode=false and cheat=true by default in the latest client.... I thought I read cheating should be disabled by default?

It is, but you may have enabled while playing single player (maybe?) otherwise, i dunno.
