Hi,

I am currently trying to install the latest minecraft forge into the vanilla modpack, I downloaded the latest forge universal and renamed it to modpack.jar and put it in the bin folder. It doesn't launch at startup, not even without mods. I am doing this because I prefer the technic launcher over the regular, and I think this is an easier way than creating a modpack because I only want optifine with the latest minecraft.
Help appriciated :)

It is not a public modpack, I was trying to modify the vanilla pack for my own use. I tried to manually replace the modpack.jar of the vanilla pack with the universal forge jar. Someone else asked almost the same question here: http://forums.technicpack.net/topic/59388-installing-forge-in-custom-pack/. But instead of creating a modpack I am trying to modify the vanilla pack, just for personal use. Is this possible? My goal is to use optifine in minecraft 1.8 using technic launcher. If there is another way of doing this easily I would like to know.

  1. Nobody cares if your pack is public or private. If you want custom modpack assistance you must provide the API URL or a link to the pack details page. Without that we would be guessing on many aspects of the modpack and it's not worth our time to do that.
  2. If you want a modpack in the platform, you have to create a custom modpack in the correct format. This post may help you: http://forums.technicpack.net/topic/103596-still-looking-for-help-building-custom-modpack/#comment-571785
