Hello,

I and going to start a tekkit server so im trying to learn things and think ahead. One thing i thought of was world expanding. I wont need it for a while but when i do i should be ready. Once one of my favorite minecraft servers went offline and "generated" a huge expansion of land. Not another world just making the same world bigger. My question is how do you do that? Thanks

I don't know that you can *force* the server to generate new land, but it will generate new terrain as it gets explored. So you can take the save file, unlock the maximum size in the config file, and have someone fly around and generate all the new land. You can also download the map file, load it up in a single player tekkit game, and do it offline, then re-upload the map file.

There's also a couple of other fixes. I saw a post about a bukkit plugin that will do it, and there's also a script that will generate new land by resetting and changing spawn points.

Try a google for "Minecraft Server set map size". That's what I did.

Oh thank you! So it just generates the world while people explore it? I thought it was different because the server i was on look like 3 days to generate more land and they were offline. maybe ill ask them. Thanks

You could use a Bukkit plugin like WorldBorder. That plugin has a fill feature, which pre-generates a world for you. It's a pretty neat plugin, 'cause it's main function is to set a world border (hence the name) for you where players can't go any further. It's also to prevent new land being generated. And last but not least, it could fill your world in 2 ways: Square or round. I recommend you take a brief moment to look at this plugin.
