Red stone signal not working on stifling or red stone engines

I've been trying for the past our trying to get the red stone signal working on my stirling and redstone engines. I've used red stone torches,levers and Restone blocks and redstone signals please help I want to be able to use my pulverizer.

The problem is you're trying to use BuildCraft engines to power Thermal Expansion machines.

You're going to want to make a Steam Dynamo.
